Hi TKSJa, why at 17:43 do you get 600 kbytes/s download , but the limit is 1000 kbits/s? The unit kB is kilobytes, and there are 8 bits in a byte. Should it not be that setting download limit to 1000 kiloBITS give you a download limit of 125 kiloBYTES or am I wrong? You seem to get 600 kiloBYTES download, which equates to 4800 kiloBITS (but your limit says 1000 kiloBITS)

From what I can tell you would need two different top level queues, one for upload and one for download.

DId you miss the packet mark on your Upload queue? The download queue uses client-dw-pk.

Yes, thanks for pointing it out. The queue will still work because the main upload queue will manage the traffic from the child queues automatically.

hey, I would like to suggest a correction. The (All bandwidth) should be a sum of (Download) and (Upload) speed. I observed that yours is not so and it has been slowing my network until i paid closer attention to that detail. But the rest of the video is nice. Thanks

i was wondering why the priorities for some upload and download rules are the same like priority 6 is in 3 rules. would you give a clear way to priority without repetition of priority or whats your view?

Higher priority traffic is guaranteed to reach it's destination. Therefore, you would set traffic priority according to importance. http up/down = 1 while others get lower.

All you need to do is to set your upload speed to 85% of your ISP maximum.

Question on this tutorial, why do you packet mark the "Download" (first child of "All bandwidth" in queue list) and all other children, but don't packet mark "Upload" (second child of "All bandwidth")? hey for some reason i have found that in a crowded network like mine for upload http-up and other-up work better with Queue type (synchronous-default) than Queue type (pcq-upload-default). In this case for upload only.

Prioritizing gaming is not as simple as you think. The only way to queue games is to identify all the ports, urls and ip used by the games to communicate with their server. Then you can create mangle rules and queue for them.

I'd set the "total bandwidth queue" to at least the sum of up and download speed, as they both hit that queue and now have to compete for no reason.

If someone turns on Protocol Encryption the p2p in Mikrotik does not see the packet anymore and all traffic ends up in the other download. To turn on Protocol Encryption in μTorrent: Options -> Preferences -> BitTorrent -> Protocol Encryption -> Enabled

For sure this is a very useful tutorial of how to use Queue Tree in combination with Mangle Rules. However I am not 100% I get the reasoning behind the priorities. This needs some more thorough explanation. For instance one would expect that upload would get higher priority over download unless it does not matter because the Internet Service Provider (ISP) is treating them as different ? ..

Thanks for the feedback, all uploads are processed together and the same goes for downloads. So the priority will only work for each traffic group separately.
