The story behind the song and video is that when she was younger, a boyfriend of hers was killed in a car accident, prompting a suicide attempt. She was institutionalized after this due to her latent depression and schizophrenia. She is now (like her 7 years later) a huge advocate for mental health care. Many of Stien's songs deal with mental illness and sadness, but usually in a way that gives some hope. The moth tattoo is hers true hers tattoo and it is supposed to be a symbol of hers because moths always chase the light or try to find her even in the dark. So this video shows that story of her fighting with her boyfriend, he goes off and dies in an accident and the light is supposed to represent him, and she's the moth. I think the song is kind of a tribute to him.

As a dutchie myself I am totally in love with the song!😍 Wish that non dutch speakers could hear what I hear. Even if you look at the english translation it is still different then if you are dutch. Some lyrics hit different in english...like the sentence "oh ik lijk wel een kind" in english is "ow I look like a child" which in english is a bit weird but in dutch it totally makes sence. Because I tell you this song is poetry it is an absolut masterpiece! It's the seriously the most beautiful storytelling. I sing about it as if it is my love. In the clip there is a love too, but it really is about the sadness. It's about the Stien that was here a couple of years ago, the one that was sad. But it is also about the Stien I was when I was 6 and performed theater performances for my family and my mom's friends. The Stien that danced to the music we listened to at home. It really is a loveletter to that." As a bit of extra info, when she was in high school she had to go to a mental hospital kinda place during her exams year and after a bit of talking to government etc. they allowed her to do her last exams in the mental hospital.

The inspiration came most likely from a Dark place she herself has bin treated for psychoses and depresion thats why her eps were called e Antipsychotica (2017) en Lithium (2018) you can see in the video references and the song is made for all people who need music to help them to similar times.... thats why the dadada and the oooohoe its not only ment to be catchy but it seems to expresing a feeling of controle or losing controle in dark times or when you lose somebody are any other dark feeling.At the representation you could really feel that it was releave with a real emotion that finaly she could sing it.i love personally love songs written from a real experience they feel so real.

Her stage name is S10 , but you pronounce it like Steen. Stien is her own name, but in English you would write Steen for English speakers to know how to pronounce it. Pronouning S10 like most English speaking do is more like the boyband called S7.10 is is tien in Dutch. She just put the S before 10/tien that makes her first name Stien pronounced Steen in English very creative of her.

Um... I am rooting for The Netherlands to do better than last year. You're right she has a beautiful voice, but this is a complex song that even in Dutch is difficult to follow without the video. I think this will be a tough sell to non-Dutch speaking audiences, so I don't think it will win. As for who I think will win, well... see y'all in Kyiv for Eurovision 2023. *Ukrainian* Kyiv.
