tbh, i think thats kinda rediculous... nobody in the world expected any freedom from china, you think elon of all people is gonna be expected, after 2 years of the most extreme lockdowns in china, to pop his head out and say something when the rest of the world had mostly forgotten about covid? whole thing about this just seems like cherry picked elon hate, even if they have a point that he cant piss of china.

It's close to a profession in medicine with a much lower qualification, add to that they will be earning that amount before the med students finish school. I'm not bashing software engineers they are highly intelligent people, but landing this kind of high paying job as young as the average employee earning this amount at Twitter , you will be sitting very pretty by retirement. Would you say a surgeon is locked up by being paid $200,000 to work 60hours a week after going through 14 years of training?

Would love a TLDR into the uyghur genocide, the history of forced organ harvest, the laogai prison system (& the absolute lack of indepency of the judicial system + the subjectivity of chinese laws when compared to the west world's legal systems), the fox hunt secret police stations, and the chinese coronavirus cover-ups & "peculiar" ever-shifting covid deaths definitions (and how that affected numbers throughout the pandemic, even by CCP officials admittance, and what estimates of the real death toll are, including from the chinese vaccines, which have historically been somewhat of a health hazard since their scientifical institutions are captive to political interests but above legal repercussions, chinese citizens preferring to pay more for foreign vaccines pre pandemic). The ADVChina folk have a lot of dug up CCP documents on these topics (for example, they reported on the secret police stations WAY BEFORE mainstream media caught on to it). The lack of chinese speaking news & intel people is one of the reasons China is so little understood (having to rely on chinese native speakers for info, most of which are under the CCP's thumb), but the popular interest in the west is growing. why we don't ever read apple's china problem?
@BigHenFor
@BigHenFor Жыл бұрын
Because they've sorted it by opening manufacturing capacity in India and Vietnam. Whilst Apple laptops are still based in China, other products aren't. And depending on how things play out, it gives Apple wriggle room to transition out of need be. And every Western corporation has a hypocritical relationship to China. That's why cynicism in the West is growing as Capitalism there lurches from crisis to crisis. Capitalism used to be a nationalist project in Western countries, with each expecting the benefits of their capitalists to flow back to their people, but that is no longer the case with Globalisation. Increasingly profits are being held in international private banks outside the control of national banking systems and regulation. What taxes are paid by those multinational corporations in their home nations are continuously reduced, as their workers rights and compensation is too. they use their political influence to reduce their liability by lobbying. Citizen participation is limited to speculating on the stock market. People in the West realise that in retrospect, that globalised capital is not benefitting national societies as much as they could be. And indeed is creating another locus of political and economic power, unhinged from control by the Nation States that created them, and they don't like it, as it is impoverishing them. And their own capitalists are responsible.

at this point a full collapse of twitter is probably in everyones best interest. most users already agree the sites only good for memes and porn, and artists who despite having many other options only post there despite bitching their art isn't discoverable when they flood their media tab with reaction images (you know the types i'm talking about) that can easily be replaced by sites like reddit, discord, even facebook, all got their problems of course, but they at least aren't influenced by china to the extent musk is. for the sake of free speech i think we can handle another social media migration that brings self rightious cringe to every platform that allows porn lol.

I'm thinking Musk is taking an utilitarian approach to this. China is the one responsible for most pollution in the world. If he helps bring electric cars massively into the country and take a sweet deal to grow his company he sees that as a major win probably. This is at the cost of turning a blind eye to human rights abuses; I do not think that is worth.

When you ask a neighbour to go into his house, you obviously respect his habits. If no one wears shoes in his house, you cannot decide doing this without his consent. If what Musk wants is to not respect the hosts' habits, then he should not set foot in the house to begin with. For example, he received giga-factories for free from China. He is allowed to take 100% of these Chinese factories and give it as a donation to a Chinese manufacturer. He is also allowed to competely leave the Chinese market and stop selling there.

@@tuna5618 What's half-researched? Let's take this video as an example, because it's full of half-assed speculation and a particularly biased interpretation of facts, without any notice that this is the editor's interpretation or pointing out other possible conclusion that can follow from the exact same facts. In the beginning, they claim Musk and/or Tesla's response to China's lockdown was "crickets". In actual fact, the company's response was to spearhead the (morally questionable) practice of having factory workers live in a closed-loop system on the territory of the factory, so it can stay open. They were the first major foreign-owned company to get this allowed for them, after Musk & the company protested the unnecessary restrictions. The only difference is that the form of protest is different - in the U.S. case, stepping on the foundation of freedom of speech and freedom in general, the "public town square" loudspeaker method was used. In China's case, they used a combination of the government's own legal system, personal contacts and public appearances to achieve the same result. This is very far from either "no response" or "agreeing with the government" - it's just that the means are different based on the circumstances. Following that, an insignificant fact is giving a lot of significance and made to appear exceptional - "The Chinese government has given billions of dollars' worth of cheap land, loans, tax breaks and subsidies", as if the CCP hasn't been providing that to all major internationals looking to set up in China, for decades. If anything, in that regard, China has less leverage over Tesla than other manufacturers with Chinese factories, since Tesla China is wholly-owned by Tesla Motors, without the mandatory direct 50% government ownership that other companies are forced to have. Then, TLDR continue by listing out a number of issues with bots, propaganda, censorship and dissident harassment that Twitter had before Musk's acquisition, but without stating that last fact anywhere explicitly - instead, blurring the timeline and blending it into the narrative. Using the latter, TLDR starts building their half-assed strawman argument, stating vaguely that "some" are worried about Musk's "stewardship" of the company. They reinforce this by claiming that the market, the board and the shareholders used to be influencing factors in Twitter's previous decisions - an easily disprovable statement if we look at Twitter's history. The board, which never questioned any of the post-Dorsey CEO decisions - made a number of questionable major decisions tanking the Twitter stock, such as banning DT (which I personally don't care about either way, just to dispel your potential accusations about my bias, and no, I'm not republican), or not doing anything to combat the rampant bot and trolling problem - thus showing they're not influenced by the market or the shareholders anyway. I.e. nothing has changed in that regard because of Musk's ownership, just the agenda of the management. If anything, it has (in words, at least), changed from providing a safe space for center, center-left and left-leaning members of society, to providing a free space for all. TLDR then proceeds to prop up the strawman by quoting a staunchly anti-republican (in anything, regardless of the subject) democrat senator's unbacked personal opinion, then one of Musk's biggest rivals - Jeff Bezos. Backing that up, they present requests from China to Twitter post-acquisition as proof of these quotes, without stating the fact that they were clearly ignored by Twitter. What's worse, they then lean on the "Tesla opening a Xinjang store" fallacy as further proof. This is a very bad faith argument, since this store was opened a year beforehand and is something every single western automaker with a Chinese factory (and a lot of other non-auto brands) have done before Tesla. It's the perfect example of a distorted non-argument presented as fact and proof. Finally, they go on to conclude that "Elon is taking steps to mitigate that Chinese leverage", cementing the narrative that there is such a leverage without having proven so. Whether it's a conscious or subconscious choice, it's a textbook example of how you ruin journalism with writer biases. Furthermore, failing in the "Business" part of "TLDR Business", they claim that the Berlin and Texas factories "aren't likely to reduce the influence of China substantially", which is the exact opposite of what any fundamental analysis would show. If you have 3 current factories (Fremont, Nevada and Shanghai), the Chinese one being 1/2 of the whole company's auto output, and then you build 2 more factories with at least equal capacity to the Chinese one, aimed at fully replacing cars imported from China in their respective locations (Europe in particular), how is that "unlikely to reduce the [alleged] leverage"? To top it all off, they mention Musk's falling net worth as a complicating factor, as if that has every influenced any of his behavior. All in all, as I said, they make a subjective, half-researched, surface-level argument that is a direct opinion piece and has nothing to do with either journalism or business.

I thought this was a legit business channel. But of your 20 videos, not less than 10 of them are about the same guy. I get it, it's an easy topic that generates views. But come on...

That's like complaining that a lot of their news coverage is about the invasion in ukraine, "I get it, it's an easy topic that generates views" or maybe it's an appropriate and relevant topic......

@@tuna5618 Like I said, I understand it's an easy topic because there is so much happening. But there are also so many other things happening related to business. For example, the use of AI in business and what this means for let's say writers or artits in general. Or the fight between Sony and Microsoft about acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Or even if you want to include something Elon/ Tesla related, the implications of sourcing lithium for the electric future. Just to name a few. The world is bigger than Musk and there is definitely a lot more happening than him and Twitter... And I think a lot of viewers agree. The video about who's winning the streaming wars: 500k+ views. Video about Elon losing 800 billion in 2022: 62K views...

@@Emanuel-jr2ii send them an email? Become a patron and ask if you can help as producer? Check the channel: they have 20 videos in total and they don’t post daily: seems to me this is just the place where they dump business related videos instead of clogging their main channel. Your suggestions are great but it takes time and staff to cover those topics and these guys have a lot on their plate atm. Hopefully they will grow in the future.
