Hell yeah! had this song stuck in my head and listened to it again after however many years.... I'm learning piano and immediately noticed the jazz influence. so cool how there's so much going on underneath a pretty innocent pop tune! need more of that nowadays... anyways great breakdown video

I've always admired the harmonic complexity hiding beneath the hood on this great pop song! I'm not sure in her 40 years of performing, with people much more highly-paid then J. Benitez was for this, she ever produced an equal to it.

I’m trying to do an Analysis of this song. But I’m confused. Does the song change key at all? I don’t think so but it seems too Complicated for my brain!

I kinda think the best way to describe it might be that it uses substitute chords from other (more-or-less) parallel keys. If the melody lines weren't so strong and assured, it could be kinda harmonically 'blocky' to me.

What is a cadence, and how does it become a classic? Think I'll need to watch this again. Another thing that might be helpful is if you had all the chords written on your whiteboard so we could see where the tricks are. Masterfully done!

the way I'm using "cadence" is just the sound of one chord resolving to another.
