EALDZ ?
I don't get it.
oh! Electronic Arts, Legende de Zelda, got it, it's about how EA bought the French rights for the series, right, right.

You can actually get that heart without the ladder. If you stand across from it and play the recorder, you'll pick it up as the tornado carries you over it.

LOL, the video description gave me a good laugh. Death count: 36 [65] (3 today) Flawless victory count: 6 [15] (1 today: Manhandla at 15:14) (0:19) Well, one of them is easy since you have the Raft, and the other... umm... well... Good luck figuring that one out on your own. (Gotta resist the temptation to give any hints right here...) (0:34) You should burn the lower-right green tree there, BTW. (That secret is the same as in the first quest.) (1:09) Nice. This 30-rupee secret is the same as in the first quest. (1:25) Oh, I thought you were going to go rebuy the meat at first there. (2:10) Fun fact: If you collect a clock on a screen that has Zora/Zola, it'll instantly vanish beneath the water. It probably doesn't want to bother with space-time shenanigans. (2:20) This is the only potion/heart choice that remains unchanged from the first quest. (2:22) Max ❤9 → 10! (2:38) This Heart Container remains unchanged as well. Huh, I wonder if the version you're playing has the glitch where you can collect the Heart Container simply by being lined up with it when you whistle, and then passing through it while in the tornado? (2:48) Bingo! (I'm gonna keep saying "Bingo!" when you make a new secret stairway appear by whistling.) (3:06) This one's just 10 rupees, but it's better than being robbed of 20 rupees by that evil door repair charge guy. (3:35) First potion bought in the second quest. (3:42) You're exactly right. (3:53) Welcome to level 5! So, the former level 4 decided to do some renovations. :P (4:22) Who wants 🥞? Yep, Like Likes make their second quest debut in level 5. (5:30) Oh, and wizards make their early appearance here too. And, they're accompanied by the colored Bubbles. Enjoy! :P (6:14) Hiyooo! It's a secret passage! (Said in HCBailly's voice. :P) (6:42) Yeah, so after completing this dungeon, you should be able to go get the Magical Sword before starting level 6. (6:55) You have found 3 out of the 4 potion/heart choices so far, and then there's the one on the docks in the eastern sea that you need the Ladder for. (7:10) This many blue Wizrobes is nasty, especially since you likely wouldn't have the Magical Sword at this point, unless you did certain things out of order. Wizrobes can be hit with bombs, so that might be worth considering until you get the Magical Sword. (7:12) First death today. (7:57) Nice job _not_ foolishly pushing that block to the left there. (8:11) Hey there, unbeatable-for-now blue Gohma. How's it going? (8:39) Bow get! And, good thing you already have the arrows! (8:56) Hey there again, now-beatable Gohma... for mid-boss time! (9:13) Victory! And, the prize was a key, which you were overlapping when it spawned. (10:00) Vires are certainly something you'd rather see than wizards. (10:11) Yeah, the regular flashing Bubbles still appear occasionally. (10:48) "Z"! And with that, the Legend of EA'LDZ is now complete! :P (11:12) Oof, Red Bubbled then slain. And yes, the Red Bubble curse persists after death. (11:28) Fortunately, a fairy fountain will restore your sword. Also, drinking a potion or collecting a Triforce fragment will do so as well. (11:45) Even if you know the room, it might be a good idea to light it up anyway, so that it's less of a load on your mind while you're trying to maneuver. (13:40) That key is unobtainable until you get the ladder, just like a certain key in level 4. (13:57) Darn that blue wizard and its sudden diagonal movement right into you there... (14:01) Yeah, the room's prize, the key, is already visible when you enter, so there won't be a further reward for defeating all of the enemies in that room. The most that slaying them all could do is open up doors, but both doors in that room were already open. (14:10) Chipmunk time. (15:14) Hey there, Manhandla. How's it going? (15:16) Bullseye! One-bomb flawless victory! (15:31) Heh, found the "ringleader" Keese right away there. (16:09) That's interesting how the "ringleader" mechanic works with Vires. It even took out the Keese it would've split into there. (16:16) Alright, it's boss time, vs. 3-headed Gleeok! I hope you win! (16:34) Victory without needing a potion! Awesome! (17:12) The other potion/heart choice remaining is one you can reach with what you have right now, but which of the 128 screens on the overworld has it? Maybe it's time to bomb/burn/whistle on every screen that doesn't already have a known entrance. (I do know exactly where it is, but giving this info out would be a spoiler, even though it's very tempting, because I do want you to begin level 6 with the Magical Sword...) (17:30) Might be worth trying. Who knows? (17:49) More chipmunk time. (18:18) Bingo! But, it's just a money making game. (18:46) At least you got here with full health, but level 6 with just the White Sword will be a thing.

The magical sword is helpful enough it feels like it would be a better idea to check the mountains quick for the last heart to get it. rather than go straight into level 6. Besides you need to go into the mountains to get the sword anyway after level 6 and you already know level 7 is on the other side of the map away from the mountains unlike level 6.

What a bizarre dungeon this was. Lots of Wizzrobes but only one room of them you actually need to clear (the one with the switch block to open the shutters leading to the Bow). I'm really not sure why all those difficult rooms going up the Z have shutters BEHIND you but not ahead of you. Maybe to inconvenience anyone who comes back for that one key once they have the ladder? Or maybe to make sure you can't hide in the doorway to wait for a safe opening to run through? Anyway I'm just realizing how brutal those rooms with the colored Bubbles and that [-] water shape (like we saw here and in Level 4) are before you get the ladder. Super easy to get trapped between 2 red bubbles, or 1 red bubble and an enemy, and then you have to chase the blue all over the place while the enemies get in your way...Goodness help you if you try to go into that room without a magic shield, btw. Undodgeable Red Wizzrobe magic coming down the bottom row at you, yay!

I never noticed but there's a sort of zig zag in the sand that for a 1986 video game evokes sand dunes ok. Like it's kinda like a table illusion where you have to snap from one visual interpretation to the other. You have to unsee the tiling and make your brain see just the right angle to see the zig zag. Bow location almost tells a story, like someone went in to destroy Gohma, but got got in the back in her breeding chambers. For some reason I don't remember the curses working the way they do despite I know I've played this semi-legit before :(

Alas, that poor key is left in that weird death chamber of a room in that dungeon. Never to be picked up. Forever will it be surrounded by an abundant amount of wizards, pancakes curses and water. I'm sure it's not a humongous deal to leave just one key behind, in all honesty tho.

There's a video a guy made where he tried to figure out if someone could softlock themselves in this game by using keys a certain way. The answer was a resounding no, since you can always buy a key, but assuming keys couldn't be bought in shops, it's still pretty much impossible to softlock yourself in the first quest. I think it's technically possible in the second quest, but you basically have to go out of your way to do it. The game makes it really hard to screw yourself by way of keys. Considering raocow is going into this dungeon with two already, he's probably fine.

Ah yes, Wizzrobes + Red Bubbles~ This is a fair and balanced setup! This dungeon, brought to you by the letter Z. For when you need a letter to identify weird buzzing or sparking noises, or if you want to try to be 90s cool, remember the letter Z. EALDZ? Must be the true Prince Darkness above GANNON! Zelda? Eh, never heard of 'em. Touching a glowing red skull curses you so hard that you'll still be unable to raise your sword arm even after you return from death! A lot more fighting-oriented of a dungeon, and no real tricks with the layout: what you see is what you get.

I wonder if at a early point of development the levels were ordered to spell ZELDA correctly, but eventually switched them around because they felt this was too difficult for a first dungeon.

My experience with first quest as a kid was going into dungeons out of order and hitting item gates in said dungeons which ended up spreading my keys really thin and forcing me to clear the dungeons in tandem sort of getting keys in one to use in another. So seeing the key behind water in dungeon 5 today, the key behind water in dungeon 4 yesterday, and a spam of shops selling keys is making me kind of nervous about how mean second quest could be with a potential 'key spamming' dungeon.. Maybe the shop keys are re-purchasable though and it's a non issue? I don't know, haven't played second quest.

Even the 2nd quest gives you enough keys (at least up until you get the magical key) provided you go back to get the two you need the ladder for.

I wonder if the reason there's so many seemingly random and largely optional/inconsequential whistle stairs is to make it more likely that you find one purely by accident, and then get the idea to search everywhere with the whistle (allowing you to eventually find Level 6).

Like Likes like like shields shields. Too bad Quest 1 and 2 don't have any anti-curse rings. There are 8 levels with extra hearts and you have done 5 so far and stuffed 11 hearts in your chest (where does this elf even store them all without spilling) if math doesn't fail me, it means you miss only 2 more hearts somewhere on the overworld. Happy searching.
