Safest I've ever felt staring down the centerline of a Dremel cut off wheel at speed. Nice mod Alex!

Thanks for this! I will be doing the mod as soon as I can source all of the parts. I just made the mistake of purchasing B6 wheels, so good a time as any to do the mod I suppose.

can you make a video for the rear x4 arm mod
@TheHobbyPlexShow Жыл бұрын
When we ran the 4wd arms, we bought the Avid C mount. No modifications were necessary. www.avidrc.com/product/5/accessories/3782/TLR-22-50-C-Pivot-Block-4wd-Rear-Arms-Wider-1-AV10093-accessories.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA9ourBhAVEiwA3L5RFtku6146V91eeeOXUgNekz_PBLiMkwJ-b4gF6rQqa6qSDGbzTPe0rRoC5IoQAvD_BwE

Are you using the #4 steering arm? I noticed my steering tie rods seems too long after this mod with the #5 steering arms.
@TheHobbyPlexShow Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I switched to the #4's. And then cut my turnbuckles by 3 mil, so I could go back to the 5's. I'm going to make a follow up vid in a week or so with my thoughts on the whole thing.

Besides using Associated wheels what are the others advantages

It's supposed to give a better steering response than the typical push the car naturally has. I'm hitting the track over the next two days alongside my son with his unmodified car to compare.

@@TheHobbyPlexShow How did it feel?
@TheHobbyPlexShow Жыл бұрын
It definitely turned more, but I honestly preferred the car in its stock form. I worked on my car for a month and tried several different variations of the Mod. I even bought the Vision aluminum block, so I didn't have to dremel any new ones. My most consistent car was a stock 5.0.

Thanks for the step by step... Man, if this, along with the 22X-4 arms mod in the rear, seems to work so well for so many, I just don't understand why TLR hasn't made option parts to accommodate the masses - especially if the SCT or drag axles can be repurposed for it. Granted, I know that the molded parts would have a higher cost than a machined part, but I just think f it this way. A lot of people might not get it done just right, and if you take a bit too much off, your chances of breaking become all the more likely. It wouldn't look good if people saw the TLR's breaking more, not knowing that it was due to a poorly executed mod. a well engineered part that matches the geometry would go a long way towards making the car just as durable as it's always been. That being said, I'm pretty sure they need to revise the front end anyway, given that IFMAR will surely be clamping down on a common offset between all manufacturers so that they can start using handout tires/wheels front and rear at future WC events. Overall, I think the 5.0 is a great buggy, but other companies continue to develop theirs, and sooner or later, it will fall behind. I'm not asking for a 6.0; in fact, I don't think the 22 needs a "6.0" overhaul. I'd be good with a "5.1" that refines an already good platform. Updated parts to replicate what these mods do for additional tuning options, an updated gearbox with easy-access diff, and I'm good!

Are the links measurements the same from the TLR kit? Can’t seem to get my toe and camber right 😢
@TheHobbyPlexShow Жыл бұрын
It brings the hub closer in, so it will have to be readjusted. I had to find a shorter toe link to get the toe right after I did the vid. You can also just cut the stock tie rod a few mm on each end.

Yes, dremeling the hubs will still be necessary to get the clearance while the suspension goes up and down.

If you run the Associated axles, assuming you can't run TLR wheels?
@TheHobbyPlexShow Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the offset end up being very wide with the TLR wheels.

After I did this, I saw some guys using 22 drag front axles. You can use different hexes and change the spacing. The new AE front axle does it, too.

Im new to the 22 5.0. What does this mod allow? Seeing that losi front arms are hard to find right now, any arms work from other models or brand??
@TheHobbyPlexShow Жыл бұрын
I saw Associated hubs and spindles used at the worlds, but not other arms, unfortunately. My experience with mod was good and bad. I liked the snappy steering response but didn't like the inconsistency. I've had a love-hate relationship with the 5.0 since it's came out. It suits my son's aggressive driving style, but I struggle with it as track conditions change.
