True each singer have their unique way of rendition.All songs written by great composers are sung in praise of the supreme. Any name can be given shiva ,matha, Hari laithambha all are for reference to the supreme being who is every where. We praise & sing these songs hoping to get blessed & to reach the Thiruvadhi of each ones eshtadevatha. So singing with bakthi not singing with bakthi is of no importance. SHRI TMKrishnan is gifted to sing the praises of the All mighty very easily which i am not gifted with. Why then should i comment on the bakthi bhava. Let us not make the beautiful Art into a study of critics

He can say Govinda in such a way that immediately it evokes a feeling of devotion within us but not necessarily for the artist. Thats what music or composition does. And for the artist, bhakti is a personal thing. The day the artist realises that Bhakti is above Love, it changes everything! Thats their personal experience. We need not worry about their personal relationship with God!

I have a feeling that most Indians, wherever we might be and whatever our beliefs or dogmas might be, have this song etched into our subconscious in the voice of the great legend, MS Amma! It was a lovely and earnest tribute from Krishna, but I had the song playing in parallel in my mind in her voice all along and perhaps always will! How amazing is the power of great music… carries most of us beyond the realm of reason, belief, perhaps even consciousness! ❤ 🙏

Lovely rendition..... I saw some comments about bhakthi or the lack of bhakthi bhava.... Bhakthi has to come from.within the individual....true bhakthi doesn't depend on any external or extrinsic factor,and that includes music too.. A musician's has to be judged by his skills and talents and not about his beliefs... I enjoyed the music and could feel the divine in me.... 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

If a musician is engaged in abusing the religion, tradition and gods day in and day out why is he singing this then, should just avoid such hymns, there are enough other songs. He badmouths the same thing he earns his income and fame from 😂
@YashRakeshGawade
@YashRakeshGawade Жыл бұрын
@@anthhhess3477 He addresses the problems within the religion and traditions that are ignored by because he is a rational human being. Music is different from faith. He can sing what he wants to sing. Currently, most compositions in Carnatic Classical Music are related to the gods and goddesses so as a Carnatic Classical Singer, he sings them. That does not mean that he should not speak up about the problems he has observed.
@anthhhess3477
@anthhhess3477 10 ай бұрын
@@YashRakeshGawade No, he doesn't address jackshit, what he is engaged in is narrow partisanship. If he was really rational he would also question other religions which have caused much grief not only in history of India but also of the world, but you'll never hear a squeak from him on that. If he was really rational he would also question the mainstream political current in Tamil Nadu but rather than doing that he sucks up to it, so don't know if he's really rational or just motivated by politics.
@YashRakeshGawade
@YashRakeshGawade 10 ай бұрын
@@anthhhess3477 But he is a Carnatic Classical Musician right? Which religion has historically held influence over this particular musical tradition? If one sees a problem in their own religion, they should be able to talk about that. No use in pretending that only other religions have problems and one's own religion is perfect. Of course, one can talk about other communities and the problems within them too. But why is that an argument against what T. M. Krishna is doing? T. M. Krishna is talking about his own community and its problems first. That is not a bad thing at all.

Unquestionably, in a class of its own in terms of his singing and all the co-artists adding to make it even better. But, then, MSS Amma is in a class of one, atop all the other musicians who sung it. She added the music to it, and sang it, with full emotion and devotion, every single time. As musically identical, perfect and beautiful this might be, it is nowhere near MSS Amma's rendition, solely because all of that emotion, devotion, which, don't forget, is one of the three most important pillars of Bharateeya Shaastriya Sangeetam, along with Ragam and Talam. Try to remove one of them, and it'll all come crashing down. Most of this is down to the fact that TMK wants to secularize Indian Classical Music. Something I believe is impossible, because the root of it's existence is Hindu Sanatana Dharma, which will remain relevant and existent as a civilization forever, and hence, so will Indian Classical Music. Again, just to make it clear, I'm possibly TMK's biggest fan there is, but only for his music, his Manodharmam, and his amount of knowledge he has about it, but not in any way to his political ideologies or his mission of "Secularizing the Sacred, and only the Hindu Sacred". Hard luck, TMK Sir, never happening ever.

@@musicalwanderings7380 you know? That's called Bhakthi Bhava. You perceive it with Bhakthi. Singing the verse or words with out bhathi is one thing. When there is Bhakthi, the way you cut, the way you sperate the syllables, take breath, not take, everything differs. Without it, it's plain. And I mean that is missing.

You are comparing this man, who does not recognise any alignment with God, leave alone recognising, but slamming the system itself, using this art form as another naked lowkeeka form of music, just to sell his tickets, with Mahakavi & Ramanuja..! 🙏 Please do a thesis on how he is equivalent to Kalidasa also.. 👌🙏😢

@@shrivenkateshwaran What is wrong with Laukika Music? Whether to believe in God or not is a personal question. I believe in God but I do not allow that fact to cloud my mind and demand that everybody else must do the same. T. M. Krishna is an artist and has a right to present his art in the way he wants to. He has his personal opinions and expresses them. There is nothing wrong with it. But hating someone for having different opinions is wrong. We need to make a distinction between Art and Spirituality. Sure they can go hand in hand but they can also not and that is fine. Art is not concerned with all such irrelevant things. Music retains its beauty if the artist is dedicated to it. All musicians, even those who are steeped in 'Bhakti', charge for their concerts. Also, if God did not want us to enjoy any materialistic pleasure at all and focus on them only, why create the material world in the first place? Material things have their own beauty and can be appreciated but only if you have an open mind, not if you like unnecessarily judging others. T. M. Krishna's music is still beautiful regardless of whether he believes in God or not.

@@YashRakeshGawade Very well said!! Agree 100%. Personally, I am ok with people criticizing TMK's music if they feel he is not up to the mark or if they feel he erred. But criticizing him just for the heck of it is foolish. And my guess is, most of the people criticize him just because he does not fit into their mold, just because he is different and thinks differently. So, they bring up meaningless stuff like - there is music but no bhakti or bhava. Their actual problem with TMK is that he raises questions and brings up points that makes them uncomfortable under their skin. That's what it is. They then retaliate by bringing up unrelated stuff like money. Well, artistes are professionals just like engineers and doctors. Of course, they get paid as they should. Am sure the guys who criticize him are not working for free and will not work for free. But they will comment as if they are saints and as if people like TMK are out to rob others. If someone has a problem with TMK's music or with TMK's views, just don't listen to him. As simple as that. Why listen to his music if you think it's a waste of time? If someone listens to his music time and time again, then criticizes it time and time again, my view would be that it is the 'someone' who is unintelligent. Nothing wrong with TMK.

Also, there is not just Bhakti, there is Gnana, karma, svadhyaya, Shraddha that goes into being spiritual. He is a musician and of course Thala and Shruti are key - that’s Shraddha. Is TMK not spiritual? Or does he have to be go “Narayana” “Narayana” to be considered worthy of singing this one? And FYI a large body of work by the writer of this song, Shankara, does not centre around Bhakti. You only know these works because it’s popularised by singers like TMK.
