There is a wonderful story behind this song. It always touches my heart. I used to hum this melody all the time till the other day I learned it was a real song. I took that as a sign that I needed to know the meaning of this song. Changed the way I view life.

The Bible is very clear that there is only one God, unchanging through eternity. Even the Book of Mormon makes that clear. But at the very end of his life, Joseph Smith started teaching that there are a multiplicity of Gods, and that God was once a human and that humans can become a god by obeying the the laws and ordinances of the Mormon "gospel." Nothing could be farther from the truth.
