I go to a liberal arts college! Basically you just have extra requirements of courses to take so like for me that includes religion, humanities, art, seminar, science, and english even tho I'm a business major. The goal is to be exposed to more than just your major and become a more well-rounded person. That's not why i chose my particular school but it can be a big turn-on/off for people : )

Mamrie getting so defensive about the Gen Z article was hilarious. As someone within the range of all the proposed millenial years, I definitely feel the "old man yells at cloud" mood towards gen z sometimes too. But I 100% agree about the abolishing cringe culture thing too. I hate when someone is just posting themselves enjoying something and they get added in a cringe compilation.

Gen Z is merely saying, they don't want to continue the bad relationship with their parents/grandparents that a lot of us millennials have. Because Gen X is the generation before us, so they're older, aka, they're not talking about their future kids. Hopefully, Gen Z understands that our issue with Boomers is how out of touch they are with how the economy is, the homophobia and racism, etc. At least, that's my hopeful interpretation of that one section, lol
@nolaray10623 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That last paragraph is spot on. The reasons we have those issues with them are valid reasons. If we had not pushed back away from that, then Gen z wouldn’t be living in a society that has opened up as much as it currently is.
@marleneflanagan71373 жыл бұрын
As a Gen X-er, I can't care too much about what you're doing. I'm busy taking care of my rapidly aging mother, trying to launch my young adult children into the world and wondering if I can ever retire.
@maplelump3 жыл бұрын
@@marleneflanagan7137 that’s where their confusion is probably coming from, I’m fairly sure Millennials know that Gen X isn’t the ones we have generational issues with, because you guys GET IT. You lived through some big things that shaped your viewpoint on the world. Be it the AIDS crisis, Reagan’s lovely version of economics, and something else that I was too oblivious to notice. You guys crawled so we could walk, and we walked so Zoomers can run. Basically I’m just sitting here with my X co-workers watching Zoomers take the front lines for us. From my experience any teasing from Zoomers to Millenials is just a younger sibling ribbing us. I’m cool with it, and I’m proud of them.

to provide some perspective from an older gen z person: I’m someone who has made a lot of self deprecating jokes over the years. I completely understand using it as a coping mechanism! I think the reason it’s mentioned is because there’s a thin line between being self deprecating and just shitting on yourself. I’ve tried to scale it back because when someone is constantly saying self deprecating jokes it’s seen as someone just constantly shitting on themself. Like yes it’s okay as a coping mechanism but I think everyone around you starts to see you as this negativity person who never has anything good to say about yourself. I also think it can start to effect your mental health if you’re constantly doing it. I hope this makes sense 😅

Mamrie, that is PRECISELY how I eat a Ferrero Rocher, as well. And I have to do it that way every time. Taking bites out or just chomping the whole thing at once would feel like your wasting it. It is a candy that demands to be savored.

I feel like some of the things that Gen Z is saying about Millennials is just the kind of stuff that younger generations always think about older generations or the way that older generations always act toward younger ones, and not specific to Millennials or Gen z.

as a gen z, idk which media decided that gen z is against gen y. i've never seen tiktoks or articles about genz making fun of gen y. i feel like it's most likely a small portion of gen z and gen y doing that
@nolaray10623 жыл бұрын
The funny thing to me is, for all the back and forth on line about millennials vs Gen z, both are very much on the same page with the big issues. (Environment, equality, wage gaps, etc etc). The two coming together would be a massive political and societal powerhouse that could actually bring forth more change...but I guess that doesn’t make for exciting headlines or shareable tiktoks...
