Mamrie, I'm originally from a town between Winston Salem and Asheville and went to University in Asheville. I have lived in Toronto now for 15 years. I miss home terribly, but every time I listen to the podcast, you make at least one Western North Carolina reference and it feels so much like home! Today's was your Showbiz Pizza reference. My sister was on a plane to me from NC to Chicago right before christmas when a crack opened up in the front window of the plane, the air masks came down, and the pilot had to abruptly drop the plane several hundred feet to fix the cabin pressure. I was watching her flight online and it just suddenly see her plane doing circles around an airport in Ohio and I couldn’t even ask her what was happening! Terrifying!

I'm not going to recommend this to people who may have a lot of flight anxiety, but for everyone else: there's a great podcast called "Black Box Down" where two guys go through post-incident/crash investigation notes for plane incidents. It's a bit reassuring to hear about how there are so many processes and regulations in place around flight (many of which came about because of incidents like what's reported in the podcast), but it's a bit concerning how often things go wrong because the pilot or crew do not follow these processes.
