At 34:18 I accidentally thought Rahzar’s weapon was called the wrong thing. It’s not the reinforced rib protector. That’s his chest plate. The weapon is actually called the Skull Shatterin Staff.

This is an *excellent* video. How deep your knowledge on Turtles goes is crazy good (especially the comic stuff). As a youngster, the likeness on these movie star figs always hit me as especially impressive; I'm glad they're still getting credit for that. Thanks for the vid.

Thanks a lot! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I always really liked the movie star toys a lot too. Tokka and Rahzar look awesome and I always thought It was awesome how bendy the turtles were. They seemed like a step up from the regular TMNT toys. They felt like lifelike or something as a kid.

13:07-13:13 you ALMOST got it right. Tokka and Razhar appeared in 3 TMNT games not 2 TMNT games. The FIRST game is TMNT 2: Turtles In Time Arcade game in March 1991. NEXT in TMNT 2/3: The Manhattan Project in December 1991 in Japan and February 1992 in the U.S.A. THEN in TMNT 4: Turtles In Time in fall of 1992. TMNT (NES) and TMNT: The Manhattan Project (NES) came out in Japan months BEFORE they were released in Japan. The Japanese don't count the first TMNT NES game in their numbering (which makes sense because it's an RPG not a arcade beat em up.) So for the HOME systems their numbering goes: TMNT: The Arcade Game TMNT 2: The Manhattan Project TMNT 3: Turtles In Time This makes more sense than how it's done in America. The Arcades are their OWN story with: TMNT TMNT 2: Turtles In Time. The home releases of these 2 games are NOT the same as their arcade counterparts since they added extra chacracters and levels in the home releases🤓

My own opinion but i do feel Peter Laird had more involvement of not having Bebop and Rocksteady in the sequel since there are mentions that he dislikes the 80s cartoon and it kinda shows it with Turtles Forever since the 2003 show, Peter Laird was very involve to why we see that show be the most faithful of the comic books. In Turtles Forever they really made the 80s turtles so out of character from making them crack jokes even when it's a serious situation to the point of making them look like wimps and having the 2003 Turtles mocking them. I have watched the 80s cartoon, while yes they have their own goofy style, you still see the turtles as heroic, trying to stop Shredder and Krang and show all 4 being capable fighters. Again, this is me speculating since i have seen folks mentioning how Peter didn't like what they did back in the 80s cartoon.
@razrentals88973 жыл бұрын
I agree. He wasn’t fond of the shows campy tone. He said in one of the ask peter Laird posts on his blog that he stopped paying attention to the show after season 3 because it got too goofy for him. I just don’t understand why if he thought bebop and rocksteady were too goofy for the movie, why would he make Tokka and Rahzar silly too. It’s weird because I understand his point about some things. It’s like a one hit wonder band. People will always want them to play that one commercial song that everybody loved, but they want people to get past that and see their deeper pieces of music. The 80s Turtles are pretty silly in Turtles Forever, but it’s pretty amazing that he allowed the whole thing to take place. People were begging him for years to put Bebop and Rocksteady in something. I like a lot of the projects he oversaw when he still owned Mirage alone like the 2003 show and toys, the 2007 movie, and certain aspects about volume 4, but I think he also made some questionable decisions. nobody’s perfect though so in general I’m alright with what he was doing. He must have some fondness for the Fred Wolf series. I mean it made them a lot richer than Mirage Comics would have alone. If the Turtles remained only a comic, most of us would never have even known about it. Despite being about 4 mutant turtles it’s not the most appealing comic for kids. The way I look at it, the 80s cartoon at least got kids interested in the turtles and one day a lot of those kids decided to look into the turtles more and found the original mirage comics and now appreciate them too. That should make him happy a little bit about the cartoon.

@@razrentals8897 I think the reason that happened was of how successful the 1st movie did that they kickoff with the sequel and it's possible they were heading for the same route as the first by making it edgy and base on stories from the comics like City at War. Do recall that Professor Perry was going to be revealed as an Utrom but i think the changes started when parents were complaining of how the Turtles are using their weapons and the plot was a bit darker to why we see changes like the Turtles not using their weapons, make Tokka and Rahzar stupid because i can say that Peter Laird wanted those 2 to be vicious but of what happened with the parents, the studio had to follow protocols and i do feel Playmates has something to do with this. Remember how Kenner was meddling in the Batman Forever movie? I think Playmates did the same with Secret of the Ooze since they saw how well the 1st movie did and wanted part of it but wanted the studio to tone down the violence so parents don't complain so they can buy their kids TMNT movie figures.
@IvanSanchez-ft3mp3 жыл бұрын
I think he feel like a sellout which you get it from a comic book creator but at the same time he should know that uf it wasn't for the 80s cartoon, know one would have known it was based on a comic and really was a smash hit back then. I don't blame him of not liking the later seasons were it does get silly but at the same time he should consider how fans were still enjoy watching the show and the live action movie helped further that growing fandom. Peter Laird is a good comic book writer and artist but he is old school to why i can see him not been fond of seeing too many mutants fighting the turtles like in the 2003 they fight against criminals, aliens and strange beings from another dimension but not much on mutants except on S3.

@@IvanSanchez-ft3mp I kind of miss him being out of the picture. When he was still in charge it seemed mirage studios was still like an underdog you could relate to. It was always cool reading the letter columns where he’d actually answer peoples questions and talk about behind the scenes turtle stuff at the studio. Some good things have come out since he sold it it, but now the turtles belong to Viacom and it’s missing that human touch. Him being annoyed about too many mutants is kind of funny too, because it’s his and Kevin’s fault haha. I was thinking about this the other day. It didn’t start with playmates or Fred wolf pushing for more mutants. It probably started with Tmnt and other strangeness the rpg. The guide to that game is filled with mutant animals that you can use to play the game. That came out in 1985. They probably knew for awhile that lots of mutant animals was where it’s at.

Ive heard they will have Tokka and Rahzar neca figures from the cartoon. If so then that sounds pretty cool. Since in the cartoon they were more intelligent Also cool poses of Tokka and Rahzar with Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady and Super Shredder. It was like watching a crossover.

I hated the Tokka figure when I was a kid. Probably because I loved Slash so much I felt Tokka was a cheap knockoff. Rahzar got a new sculpt but Tokka got shafted. Scaled way too small too. Still have him in my box. Took off his belt because in the movie he didn’t have it. Big mistake because now I lost it. Ah well.

@@razrentals8897 Like other TMNT figures from Playmates, they didn't want to make tge figures bigger reason that they will use more plastic so gotta cost more and they believe that parents wouldn't let their kids buy toys in higher prices to why we see bigger characters scale down a bit and not have an accurate height
