Though there is another suggestion I have. It comes to the mood of the Nightwatcher's actions such as in what Raph did in the movie when he was the Nightwatcher though I think my first point has a better definition.

That might be, but all versions of the game do not look like this. I have played the PC version for quite some time, which is for instance colorful in this level. I recently started looking at videos for this game and have found plenty of differences between versions. Speedrunning this game have to be categorised in different versions.
