Awesome review as always, dude. I haven't received my Genghis yet. But I'm telling you...Robotic Rocksteady is where it's at. No loose joints, lots of accessories, huge size, and a totally radical design. The front of the figure even looks like a semi-truck in my opinion; like once he gets moving he's not going to stop.

@@razrentals8897 I have no negatives with him. The articulation is a tad limited, but I can still get him posed on one leg in a charging position. It's good enough, and I care about articulation more than you. I just love the big bruiser figures.

@@seanbeckett4019 If you like any of the other S7 figures or just cool robots, this guy is great. The only issues - which should not exist - are the bicep and forearm swivels are limited by the sculpt. But you can still get him throwing a punch or holding the guns, chainsaw etc. The waist is also limited, but the side to side you do get is enough for the poses I feel like a giant robot rhino needs. The legs have a fully functional thigh twist, shin swivel, and ankle rocker. The shoulder guns are removeable and can double as hand guns! Just got my set last week and happy to say that all the figures have nice tight joints. The only one that has a loose hand joint is Space Raph. Gotta say though my favorite one is Robot Rocksteady.

Great Review! I think you bring up some great points about the belt/bandolier, and that’s why I keep coming back to these 50+ min videos. Love the alt head, and details of the arms and legs. It is a bit head scratching that in the era of cost reduction they beefed up the boogie board. I think the one in promos look a lot better. Just ordered slash and undercover Raph on BBTS this week. Hope the ultimates line can continue for many more waves even if it looks like characters or variants that we didn’t get in the original line!

Thank you! I agree, why blow up the boogie board when you could use the resources to make the cola can grenades. Tmnt Ultimates is at a crossroads for me at the moment. I’m still really excited about waves 7, 9 and the rest of 8 I don’t have yet, but 10 really lost me. If they can’t replicate Playmates exactly I still want them to make interesting figures. I heard they got the rights to make 2003 toys. That may be interesting but I’m not sure how it’ll go. It was a great show but it may not be as desired as the older stuff. It seems like even the fan favorite stuff is having a hard time moving like all that stuff bbts has up for sale now. Enjoy that Slash action figure! He is probably in my top 5!Ultimates. A lot of people were put off by that Rat King figure so hopefully the next wave excites the fans. My problem with the Mirage style toys is they’re not super faithful to the source material so it makes sense just to stick with Neca. That Karai may also be too toned down to look right next to the earlier waves of ultimates too. We’ll see but I hope somehow Playmates eases up and we get the rest of 89, 90, 91 etc. I need some giant Dirtbag and Groundchuck figures!

@@razrentals8897 Yeah, was born in 92 so only had a few of the og playmates figures. The main ultimates I’m interested in are the updated versions of the ones I had as a kid like Punker Don and Robo Bebop. So far I’ve picked up the turtles and their variants but this latest wave is the first one I’m interested in all 4 figures. Give me an Ultmates figure for Armaggon, Old Hob, Hun, or Last Ronin in the 90s gross playmates style and I think the line can continue to thrive. Explore newer and popular characters from comics, games, and other cartoon series.

@@Popstalgia that’s exactly what I want! Other characters in the playmates spirit. Armaggon would have made such an awesome toy back in the day. It’s amazing we didn’t get any type of shark character because they’re such obvious villains. How did you manage to get your hands on TMNT toys back then? I remember them still selling original toys at kB toys well into 98-99. I was born in 84 and I missed a lot of the initial Heman craze, but I always got them from neighbors or played with them at other peoples houses because they had them. The cartoon helped to get me interested too. Was it like that with the turtles for you?

@@razrentals8897 Yeah, got into the turtles through VHS tapes but only had like 5-6 obscure variants. Punker Don, Camo Don, Baseball Raph, Skateboarding Mike, Robotic Bebop, and Super Shredder that I remember. Sadly no Leo’s lol, but remember mostly picking them up from discount stores and what not. Had a lot of friends with older brothers who had a lot more turtles than I did.

I think that the "blades" of the boogie board are actually fins so Genghis could control where he's riding. Kinda like the fins of a surf board. You're the shit Gary, don't stop making these videos please. Lost my job recently and your videos are keeping me going man

Also, off topic, but do you think you could give me pointers on how to warm up neca tmnt figures? I just acquired the turtles in disguise as well as the punk turtles sets within the past 2 days, and I was actually going to take the turtles in disguise out of the box (I'm a mint in box collector but seriously wanted to take these out for the face swappability). I'm actually terrified I may break them or something bad. Would you be able to leave a detailed comment, or make a quick video discussing the best ways to warm up and pose neca tmnt figures? Wow. That alternative head is truly wild. I was not expecting something so over the top. Seems more like a Venom mouth. I do like how this guy came out but Im not buying anything Super7 anymore. I have four figures from them and they constantly fall over due to loose joints and this still continues today. No more.

Yeah the hips are always the number one problem. Creating the action sequences in these reviews always reaches a point where I start cursing at my toys because they keep falling over haha. I also completely agree with you. Genghis looks very Venom.

Awesome review! I wish Super7 would have their QC issues solved by this point in the line. The non removable Soda cans are bologna. Like you said, they would have saved money reusing Ace's belt and just molding a can. Oh, those are "fins" on the board, but i could see that alternate headed Genghis pounding some razor blades in his board! Thanks again for the hour of entertainment and escapism.

You’re welcome! I’m glad I kept you entertained for awhile. I’ve always thought of my videos sort of like a video podcast. The QC issues are mind boggling. How could they not take any steps to fix those loose hips. It’s been like 3 years and more if you count the MOTUC figures they did which I think were actually better, the ones I have at least. They still haven’t figured out how to do women hips yet. Neca at least changed their hip system early in the tmnt line.

100 percent with you! Brian Flynn likes to make excuses instead of improvments for his company. It's always "the customer is ignorant to the toy making process, the factory had so and so go wrong, or the license owner stepped in and ruined the wave. Can't wait for your next video!

That massive BBTS sale imo pretty much sums up the future of Sup7. I think they spread themselves out with too many lines. The idea of articulating classics and giving them proper paint apps is still an awesome idea. The execution was meh on some and home runs on others. Inconsistency kills in this hobby

all of the small changes that super7 made are most likely to avoid Playmates litigating and closing the doors for Super7… not that B Flynn will admit to it. In any case, i always loved the vintage figure and this is a great homage and modern take

It’s a shame Playmates pulled some strings with Nickelodeon to make it this way. You’d think since Nick owns the designs they’d tell them to get off their backs.

If they were going to make the boogie board into a tower shield, they needed to move the handle up higher so that the bottom is much closer to the ground when held. It's just awkward the way they did it. It's stuff like that that catches me off guard, like someone was asleep at the wheel and wasn't checking how this thing looked. I would have been happier with a bigger shield than advertised, if I could actually use it.

Agreed. I don’t think they understand how to balance the figures right. I’ve been wondering if this is a problem because they sculpt the figures digitally. I’d like who know who sculpted Genghis and his accessories. The four horsemen or someone in-house like the rat king. Maybe a mix of both.

i have to agree. They have very little stuff coming and a lot of complaints about past stuff, mainly QC. Personally, i don’t appreciate announced waves being pushed back, but new products like the Thundercats lair getting announced and they follow through with that no issues. It presents to me that they haven’t enough people working on seperate lines, but they’ve got 1 team trying to do all of it and they can’t manage the juggling act.

$20 starts to drive you nuts when you realize how much you paid for all of those toys full price. Eventually bbts and entertainment earth are going to stop ordering as many. I completely agree with you, this all doesn’t look good at all for the health of the toy line. It means people aren’t buying these figures unless they’re more than half off. Idk s7 usually puts the variant node into the figure...slashes purple belt ..heck slam dunking Donnie is the white variant ..most of these companies include deep cuts all the time ...which is particularly funny seeing that 90% of the time they ignore the obvious yet include stuff most people will complete miss ..s7 needs to slow down maybe shoot for two waves a year first half second half kinda thing..with maybe just one exclusive variation a year...this way they can actually get the stuff out ..

Yeah you may have a point there. They have included a lot of deep cuts so I may be wrong. It seems crazy how long wave 7 is taking. Over two years is a long time to wait for a toy preorder. I use to be empathetic to the problems they had back in 2020 and 2021, but now I don’t understand how these waves keep taking so long. Remember when Brian was saying he planned on having a preorder pop up every three months right as waves would drop every three months. Maybe it was four months either way, that was really optimistic and we never got anywhere near that level of efficiency.

Cutting weapons racks, any extra accessories, mailers and eventually slip covers. Also on the glow in the dark slash, they didn’t include the glow in the dark pint on the packaging that they advertised and I recently got a reptilian warrior from Thundercats and they got rid of the reflective paint on the slip cover.

I don’t know the future unfortunately. I heard the next wave will be all 4 2003 turtles which drag all of this out even longer. Everybody you mentioned is a must have and I really hope we get to see them at some point.

I’m getting Robo Rocksteady next. Originally I wanted to collect every figure, but with the prices the way they are I’m not interested. I also didn’t get all 3 figures I want from this wave all at once because I didn’t feel like spending so much money at once. I’m sure RR will still be available until next month and space cadet will be available the month after that. I have no interest in buying the cartoon version of the Shredder. He’s not even colored the correct way to look like the cartoon. Where’s his shirt? I have all of wave 7 and wave 9 preordered and prepaid, but with wave 10 I only preordered Rocket Leo, Ninja April and Karai. Karai and April are starting to look a little different from the other figures in the line so after them if the figures don’t appeal to me I may not pick them up. I’m not interested in Mirage Casey because I think Neca’s version and series makes more sense. I also didn’t preorder Super7’s Turtle Van like I planned on, but I’ll hold out on that thing for when it goes on sale like the Thundertank did eventually. Price is a big factor in all of this. It’s too expensive to collect figures I don’t care that much about just to have a complete set. Plus in a year they’ll be $20.
