For 2017 paper 1 Q8, why can we say both equations are less than 0. Why isn't greater than or equal to 0 the only equation

Hey! If both equations are less than 0, they are both negative, so when you multiply both negatives, they result in a positive and thus >=0. So to get something >=0 by multiplying, both factors can either be positive or both can be negative

quick question, wouldnt the square root of sin^2x be modulus sinx or does it not matter?
