All the hydrants are not dry. Even the fire officials have said that 🙄. Most were fine except the demand is too great and too far flung. Based on the fact that the system relies on gravity to move water and the fact that the fires were in the mountains... you do the math.

People who want to talk about fire response need to get the facts first. In order to save the structures that burned down they would have needed more trucks than the state has and no city /county water system is equipped to handle that many fires across that wide of an area with that type of wind. This was a perfect storm for this type of tragedy. Once you factor in arson it's an apocalypse.

The reservoir in Pacific Palisades was closed for maintenence before the fire broke out. Bad timing but not negligence. In a tragedy there is an impulse to blame someone. Sometimes it really is no one's fault. Poor btush maintenence, houses too close together, archaic building codes are all factors. Arson, 100 mph Santa Ana winds.... disaster. The only water that could stop this combination of issues is rain. And then you can expect mudslides.
