I absolutely loved this game as a kid, before you were old enough to look up reviews online you just got better at the shit controls and didn't think about it too much
@TXFDA2 жыл бұрын
I mean, that's being a kid for ya. Especially back in the day when you had to rely on magazines to give you some idea about games. Or just relying entirely on if the box looked cool. You'd get a game, and you'd deal with it, whether it was bad or not, because that's the game you got. I mean, one of my favorite games growing up, was Enter the Matrix on PS2. And by all accounts, that game is considered a pile of hot garbage. The graphics weren't great, the animations were pretty bad, the controls kinda sucked, the story was nonsense. But I liked Matrix, saw the game in the store, and begged my parents to get it for me. I got it, played it, and ended up really enjoying it, despite all the jank. I rented countless games from Blockbuster that were horrible, but I put up with it, because what else was I gonna do? Make my parents drive back to Blockbuster to rent me another game? No, I was gonna play the hell out of the game I got, and I was gonna force myself to like it. And most of the time, I figured out how to work around the bad parts and did actually enjoy it.

With today's examples like 2k20, it's easy to forget... but before we were "spoiled" by jank like that, the earlier WWE games still had a bunch of problems (and a bunch of deliberate bullshit) even if they were superior to the current ones. People were really pumped for another company having a go. It didn't pan out, but for all we knew at the time, it could've. Would've been nice if it had. If they'd actually made a series-worthy contender, we'd probably have MUCH better WWE games nowadays.
