Ken Simington, a longtime NPT staff member and executive producer of Tennessee Crossroads and Volunteer Gardener died in his home on August 30, 2016. (Ken would want us to mention that Crossroads is the highest rated locally produced program in the entire PBS system.)
Ken was a consummate professional who got his start in radio in his home state of Arkansas and began working for NPT (then WDCN) back in 1979. Ken served as a governor of #NATAS Nashville/Midsouth Regional Emmys--and around NPT he is sometimes referred to as the Susan Lucci of regional Emmys for his disproportionate ratio of 16 nominations to 1 Emmy win.
Ken will be missed for his sense of humor, his easy-going spirit, his storytelling and his awesome homegrown tomatoes that he generously shared with staff.
Our thoughts are with Ken's wife Janice, his two sons and grandchildren.
