It’s a cult of personality. It no longer matters about quality. It’s about praising the personality of Drake no matter how dreadful his music is. It sounded like an album of the songs and demos that led up to One Dance and Controlla. These were all the throwaways before they finally got a couple right lol. But on the world stage these will probably stream pretty well and play in lounges and what not...The title kinda tells you it's not to be poured over very deeply lol

This is cap. sounds nothing like controlla and one dance, sounds more like house / club type music
@joshwilliams65172 жыл бұрын

@@alexflores5554 It was an over simplification to get the point across. Same thing like comparing it to house music is cap, it sounds nothing like house but I know what you mean. It's got elements of dancehall, reggaeton, house, r&b, shit even some juke type drops...all blended together. I'd be all for it but it just comes across soooo bland and tepid it's hard to get into
@LiterallyJustAnActualPotato8 ай бұрын
Nah, it sounds like throwaways from the Passionfruit album. The delirious, mumbling, dissociative vibes, and the weird (“artistic”) cuts of other people talking on the track. These songs and passionfruit always make me feel like I’m in some sort of awful fever dream. Genuinely uncomfortable.
@stunnah262 жыл бұрын
And the laziest attempt at a dance record goes to…Drake. I see a lot of folks saying “its a different album, its house music to relax to, etc” except it doesn’t seem like there was any actual effort put on this album, the mixing is terrible, and the production itself its just overly repetitive besides 1 or 2 tracks. This made me immediately want to go listen to Dawn FM.

All thoughts about the album aside (I mean, I only liked 2-3 tracks from it lol): great review. Hilarious. This is my second time watching this video. Fantano is a true entertainer, sitting through ass albums like these and still giving his 2 cents on it, mad respect. Can't imagine the patience it must take to listen to whole albums of just ass and still give a 40 minute review of it to us. And that excludes all the editing that he must do anyway.

One of the sure things about a Drake's project(up until this album at least), is that you're always going to find some catchy nice songs on the record, even if the album is shit/bad(which is almost starting to become a sure thing as well): e.g. IMY2 and Fair trade on CLB,Chicago Freestyle on DLDT, Nice for what and Nonstop on Scorpion, Passionfruit and Do Not Disturb on More Life, too good and Views on Views...but on this album I just couldn't find a catchy nice song to vibe to like I usually do in Drake's albums. That's what makes it even worse for me. Also, hearing Falling Back at the start of the album is a traumatic experience.

@@renzo5311 I've seen many people talk positively about sticky and Jimmy cooks, which, along with Massive seem to be the "standouts". I do agree these are "my favourites"(if I have some"), but I still couldn't really vibe to them. To each their own I guess.
