Wayne Gretzky, Paul Bissonnette, Anson Carter& Host Liam McHugh talking about the recent death of Adam Johnson. But ironically not speaking about Matt Petgrave who injured & cut the neck of Adam Johnson when he kicked him with his skate blade.

NHL doesn’t have the balls to condemn a black player doing something this awful. I’m black and I recognize if the assailant was white and the victim was black this would be a very different, louder conversation.

Yes sadly that's right. (about races being flipped & that's sick in and of itself) I'm not sure how much you are into NHL hockey, but they (NHL Commissioner) hired a black woman to investigate social Justice in and about the teams of the NHL. She found out one important issue. She said the NHL players and office personal on all teams were just too White (in her own words spoken at the NHL League podium). Too White meaning not enough minorities for her paid to say so liking . The nerve of the fans, players, and league. lol being too White. Do you think she'd of said that the NFL or the NBA was too black? I'm going with a big fat no! Racial politics has no room in any of the major sports leagues. IMHO! And in 2020 the World went Woke Nuts! Thanks for watching and commenting.😎👍🏒🥅

If you can't see what so many are talking about ... I suggest you open your eyes up a little more. Just saying! This situation has everything to do with the race of one player and the lack of the authorities getting involved in a MANSLAUGHTER incident of one ice hockey player. I didn't make the rules. Heck I didn't break the rules. Matt Petgrave"s name is hardly mentioned not just in tgis video but all over the place for the reckless incident that he alone did. I can't teach you about racial politics my man, but you best believe it's real!;

Petgrave definitely showed obvious intent to do grievous bodily harm. Watch the video again, he used the player he was defending as a pivot point to increase his momentum, and he was far from being off balance or out of control with his extremities. The intent should make it murder and not manslaughter.

Nope. When Adam's teammates say it was an accident, and now Clint Malarchuk has come out and said there was no way it was intentional, and even explained what happened to cause the leg to go up. Especially since Wayne said this very early on. It's not like he said it yesterday. Plus, the video is such low quality, you absolutely cannot prove intent. Even IF he meant to use his leg to make contact, there was no way he meant to even injure Adam, let alone kill him.

The South Yorkshire Police Constabulary actually put out a statement after this horrific incident saying that people need to watch what they are saying on social media and shouldn’t be too quick to judge Petgrave because of his skin colour! Skin colour doesn’t even come into this,I’m judging Petgrave by his outrageous actions on the ice. Intentional or not, there’s still a risk of a skate coming up and hitting someone in the neck... take the Richard Zednik one for example. Absolutely no intent, his teammate lost his balance and his skate came up, Zednik lost something like 5 pints of blood? That’s a dangerous amount, and I’m surprised neck guards weren’t in consideration back then. Sad that it’s taken a high profile death for this conversation to happen.

In general life intent to kill isn't required to get a conviction of murder. Only the intent to cause harm that results in a fatality. On the sporting arena and especially in contact sports I would guess it's slightly different because by playing a contact sport you are giving implied consent for violent action against you.

I remember in minor hockey, after the Clint Malarchuk incident, we were all required to wear neck guards, but they were so bulky, hot and uncomfortable back then, after a year or two no one wore them. I suppose if we grew up wearing them from time we first played it would be an easier transition, plus im sure the technology improved where there more comfortable, so need to change the rules. this incident however is more about reckless behavior, it should not have happened, even a goon knows not to raise their skate towards someone, nearly as bad as stabbing someone with a knife, u just dont ever cross that line, so he deserves to be charged with involuntary manslaughter because it was an extremely reckless act that caused the death of another.

It was a black hockey player and a dirty one at that and has been kicked out of games repeatedly… he should have been kicked out of the league a long time ago… all the nhl hockey players know it was an intentional karate kick to a players throat and here these 4 commentators and former hockey players know damn well it was as dirty as you can get. If this happened back in the 80s and 90s and it was in the nhl you know damn well there would have been fights and bench clearing ruckuses on the ice…. Could you imagine if it was a white on black player, all these Marxist groups like BLM and Antifa would have been out there riots and fires and looting and anarchy…. And of course these guys had to remain silent as to not offend anson carter…. Give me a break with the wearing the neck protectors and face shields… I’ve been watching the nhl since the early 80s and now all of a sudden let’s change the rules…. I call fiing bs!!!! WAYNE IS WOKE. He will lose his job if he stands up against the "man" who slashed a player's neck. STREET THUG!
@dmzabo3914
@dmzabo3914 6 ай бұрын
Do You think Wayne cares about that job? He’s paid enough (relatively speaking) and he isn’t a full time panelist on that show to begin with. Or Maybe he doesn’t want to cross the wokie crowd (he did play in L. A. after all ) by saying what he really thinks? At least that’s what I’d hope for. Sometimes it looks as if he doesn’t really want to be in the studio. Bizz was giving him a hard time last year (playoffs) about a double overtime game. Saying that he didn’t like the fact it was after midnight when it ended. I bet he’s more comfortable at his own familiar dwellings than being there in studio. That’s what I took away from that interaction. I’m just a regular fan, so what the heck do I even know? lol. thanks for watching though. 😎👍🥅🏒

I accepted the tragic accident commentary..until a You Tube Channel host I have watched for several years..not a hockey channel..expressed shock and dismay at this situation. I then watched the video..the deliberate kicking motion wasn’t subtle. Dismaying so many continue to call Adam’s fatal injury an unfortunate collision in the moment. There are players at every level of hockey who have a propensity for bad behavior that is continuous and chronic..and escalates.

Consider all of the hockey played from wee kids to NHL and all the leagues in between, and this has never happened before. I recall Clint Malarchuk getting sliced on the neck and losing a fair amount of blood, he's still alive though. This was a freak accident and the neck guard talk is overblown but it's also a low cost to mandate wearing them. As for intent, the 'youtube lawyers' can work that out with the calm and reasoned debate they are known for. Thanks for posting the vid.

I haven't seen the incident so I don't know if it was a freak accident or the guy tried to hurt the other player. But from what I've _read/heard_ about this guy, the word accident shouldn't be taken too literally. Did he want to kill the guy? No, I can't believe that. Did he want to hurt the guy? YES, that's why he's on the team, it's his job and mentality. That being said, until today I'd never even heard of him, so my opinion isn't worth a lot.

I still think Clint Malarchucks injury goaldy for Buffalo over 20 years ago was the worst skate to neck ever to see blood was coming out so fast and furious figured he was going to did right on ice but fast acting Dr saved his life by putting his fingers on veins cut all the way to hospital saving his life just wish this day and age it could not be done for Johnson

I was the equipment manager of one of the top teams in the Ontario junior C league for 23 years the grimsby Peach kings. For half those years we had to wear them. Players bend the rules buy rolling them folding them cutting them in half. The refs never I forced the neckguard rule as long as something was around their necks they would let it go.

He makes for an entertaining podcast host, and I like hearing his stories about his time as a player. I don't like it when he's trying to teach coaching or explain game strategy to someone like Gretzky. Or talk about Playoff grit to Mark Messier and Chris Chelios. I also hate it when they all talk over each other to get their jokes in (aka "screaming hot takes"). But for that I mostly blame TNT's Direction, or lack of it.

Stop with this talk about needing to implement a neck guard mandate like this was an accident or that it happens all the time. Matt Petgrave is a reckless, malicious, dirty player that committed felony assault resulting in the death of the victim. He should be treated like the criminal he is.

Wow Wayne. Always looked up to you as a genius of hockey. But 'those guys in england arent ever gonna play in the nhl so why dont they play non contact' are you for real? Nice way to spread the game round the world mate. Adam johnson who is the guy that got killed, had played in the nhl wayne. We are fully capable of playing full contact over here in england wayne. In fact maybe we should keep the league a bit more english and stop paying wannabe's from canada like petgrave to play over here just because their Canadian, despite the fact that they are dog shit and dirty players. Yes wayne, it was one of your fellow canadians who proved to be incapable of playing the sport without killing someone. Out of order for you to imply that its us brits who cant play contact. You take the contact out the game the sport will lose what little appeal it has in this country. Thanks a lot wayne.b
