They did win the grand final with an unprecedented 100% of the vote. Other performances in this series are them as the Bee Gee’s, the Supremes, the Three Tenors, Destiny’s Child & their performance of ‘lady marmalade’ (with some of the words changed for obvious reasons) as Aguilera,pink & miya. This was a weekly show so the kids usually had 7 days once they found out at the end of each show who they were going to be the following week but because of other commitments the TNT boys sometimes only had 3 days to perfect their routines. I think the show ran for 10-12 episodes & basically the idea is that the kids had to mimic an iconic performance from famous artists, both Filipino & international superstars, which is why you probably recognise this routine because it was performed at some big music award ceromony. Jesse J has seen this & she is obsessed with these little guys. Ariana is also a big fan & the boys appeared on the James corden show (is it the late show?) to sing as he had met them on the show ‘the worlds best’ which he hosted. What they didn’t know is that James had asked Ariana if she could surprise the boys as they are massive fans. She obliged & crept up behind the boys whilst they were mid song,their reaction is priceless. ( search TNT boys & Ariana ‘I am telling you’. I just have to say what a refreshing change to many reactions in the US & Canada. People seemed to feel really uncomfortable about the boys basically been in drag. The reason the boys portrayed females so often is quite simply that there is a lack of male trio’s to imitate. In the Philippines they are more ‘free thinking’ about stuff like this, they just see it as entertainment, after all, the boys are only doing what millions of kids around the world do all the time,which is playing at dressing up, it’s just that they happen to be so brilliant at it. Obvious things like some of words in ‘lady marmalade’ were changed because they were totally unsuitable for any child to sing, even in the liberal Philippines. The show always had a psychologist available to the kids so they always understood that it was just a performance & not real etc. The kids never had to do anything they didn’t want to & got very excited about playing women because many of their idols are women & who doesn’t want to pretend that they are their hero for 10 mins or so? I think this performance is the ‘roughest’ vocally from the boys but they were in a big arena with a big crowd, with a big stage for them to dance over & up & down those steps so they expended a lot of energy for those little bodies. The vocals in their TV studio performances are better because their movements were more contained in a relatively small TV studio with a far smaller audience. I think the excitement of the grand final with that large crowd & all that dancing around distracted them a little from their vocal performance. I suggest you watch their performance of ‘too much heaven’ by the Bee Gee’s next as this is where it all started on the 1st week of the show & like myself, this was for people already watching the TNT boys, the first glimpse of the boys having even more talent than just singing. Throughout all this performing the boys schoolwork is always the priority & although you’d maybe think that these boys were destined for a long career in the entertainment industry,the boys themselves, when asked what they wanted to be when they grow up, all gave answers to the contrary, with only mackie, who said he wanted to be a dance/ performance teacher in a school, made any reference to the arts, the other two boys were kiefer wants to be a civil engineer & Francis wants to be a surgeon. All 3 are very bright boys & doing well in school, particularly kiefer. Not bad for 3 boys that have come from literally nothing, in particular francis, who to say has come from poverty is a sheer understatement ( his story will break your heart). Thank you for checking out The TNT Boys again. Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids was a weekly show where kids, like The TNT Boys, were given a specific artist(s) to impersonate. They should not only look like them, but they should also sound like and act like them. This was the reason why I became a big fan of The TNT Boys. They’re really so versatile. They kicked off the show as Beegees with “Too Much Heaven”. I like their Three Tenors “Sole Mio” performance too. With dancing, I prefer “Nobody” as the Korean girl group Wonder Girls. Well, all their performances in this show were really great. So I suggest you watch them all. Please watch their interactions with the judges and other contestants too in every performance. They’re really funny and entertaining.
