Star Trek: Through my life, it has taught me so much Kirk taught me physical courage in the face of danger Spock taught me to analyze the world logically McCoy taught me to balance that logic with compassion Picard taught me to show moral courage even when the whole world was against me Crusher taught me to care more than might be safe Sisko taught me to make tough calls Data taught me to constantly move forward towards even the most unattainable goals Worf showed me to balance strength with honor Ro taught me that redemption is possible if one falls And through it all, I learned that all life deserves respect because it is precious.

This is not just a tribute to a television show. This could be one of humanity's magnum opus moments. This show, warts and all, contains within a message we have surely forgotten: we are better working together then apart. When we as a species finally realize that we can do more despite, not because of, our differences...we can almost literally move mountains and part oceans. The message missing from us at this moment in time: we can be better even with our flaws. We can manage our dark impulses with more then just wealth or religion or power. We can even learn, if we just stop for one moment and listen to our fellow man instead of summary judgment blocking us from knowing both sides of the story.

Which is why you listened to vegans and became a vegan yourself just like in Star Trek?
@thenullhypothesis61792 жыл бұрын
I think your statement is slightly wrong. When we work together we become the total sum of our individual strengths, and others make up for our individual weaknesses. It is not despite our differences, it’s our differences that make us able to complete the pattern.

30 years later this is still the best TV show i've ever seen. A show that taught compassion, optimism, and teamwork - real world values we should all strive to live by. The writing and characters were top-notch, and it explored philosophy and human nature beautifully. Most modern TV shows (including the newer Trek stuff) will never hold a candle to it.

When Picard says "I would trust each of you with my life" it's so sincere and true because there's 7 seasons that prove it. Each member of the crew of the Enterprise has immense respect and admiration for Picard and he gives them the same respect and admiration in return.

Star Trek captures the human spirit in film, moreso than any piece of cinema I've ever experience before. TNG specifically. You know, before I actually sat down and watched Star Trek...I always assumed I would never like it, but it's probably one of the most important pieces of human cinema to ever be made. It captures in perfection, what we want to be, what we strive to be, and what I hope we will be some day; even if my great grand-children are the ones that see it and not I.

It is obvious that the work of Gene Roddenberry, continues on, inspiring many lives to be better, re-shaping and many times, making us reflect about ourselves and others. I believe, that is what he wanted, for all of us to see that potential, and to inspire to it. Star Trek made a difference in many people lives, including mine, as I was motivated to study computer engineering and then medicine. But it also made me think more about life itself, and to cherish moments with the ones love, family, friends, and the community, as well as always strives to better myself. Of all the TV shows. I have seen, Star Trek has been the most inspiring and fun. My teenage kids love it, that tells you how good that is that still in 2020, some young minds are attracted to it. Just look at the comment themselves, that tells how much this program meant to many, and will continue to do so. “Let’s make it so”.
