The actress who played the queen did such a great job. It was a really charming portrayal of Mary II.

About 4 months after they married and William went to fight the French, she wrote a friend: ". . . what can be more cruel in the world than parting with what one loves, and not only common parting, but parting so as may be never to meet again, to be perpetually in fear. For God knows when I may see him, or whether he is not now, at this instant, in a battle. I reckon him now never in safety, ever in danger." When she was queen, she missed William terribly when he was fighting the French.

The portrait of King William is false. He was not the dotard fool portrayed in this film. William of Orange was a great Captain-General and very able. It was he who ruled England during their respective reign.

Yes iti does, but a man who was both the stadholder in the Dutch Republic and king of England, Scotland and Ireland, and who could fashion alliances that prevented Louis IX from conquering most of Europe was hardly a fool.

If by Lady Mary Tudor you mean Queen Mary I, she died 155 years before the Glorious Revolution put William III and Mary II on the throne.

Who are the orchestra and singers?
@tfbotm6 ай бұрын
The orchestra is the English Baroque Soloists, under John Eliot Gardiner. The soloist towards the end is Michael Chance - in a wig and a mustache, no less!!!

fake trumpets? Nothing wrong with vent-holes except when they pretend to not be using them. Didn''t Crispian Steel-Perkins have a thing or two to say about Gardiner's renditions of authenticity? Plus ca change.
