Stefan, it is so great to see you again. Now, I have viewed every one of Stefan's videos. Light, Light, and light effects is the key theme that is in all of these videos. I can thank Stefan for opening my eyes to viewing others art, viewing everyday scenes, and creating more impressive photographs. Watching videos on the effects of light has helped me so much in the process of composition. I now look at the light in the morning or evening and grab my camera and go out and capture those areas that are normal during the day and now great at the time of 'side light' Stefan has opened my eyes and now I need to move to the next step, get my paints out. Thanks.

After many years of watching you, I finally bought the equipment and tried my first plein air painting this week. What a wonderful experience!!! I got so lost in the process, hours went by unnoticed. I just have to say "thank you". You are a truly great teacher! 👩‍🎨🤗❤

Stefan Baumann is such a great teacher! I've been watching his KZbin videos, and he has inspired me to become a more professional artist. I have built a website, started looking for shows to apply for, and had began to consider light and shadows much more seriously in my work. I even started a KZbin channel to share some of my own insights around painting. Thank you Stefan for all of your insights and sharing through KZbin and with the community!

Mr Bauman the section on the power of light was extraordinary! When u used the lamp to adjust the light it was a huge ah ha moment for me!! And, it came to me that it is light that cast shadow (obvious to a lot of people I’m sure) so I set out to paint a painting using the principle of the power of light and I created my second most powerful painting in the 2 years I have been painting! I have heard one famous utube artist say it doesn’t matter where your light is coming from-for me, that is not true! Just want to give you a hundred thousand thanks for that demonstration and finally my understanding of how to use light in my painting! I must admit I don’t paint outside (on a Walker) and I rarely use reference photos-I make it up as I go-landscapes-but it causes me to really get in deep into what the light will hit, where the shadow should be, etc and I’m loving it! Ty again! You are truly a Master!

Your point about why write a book and never publish it resonated with me as I've spent my life circling around art, making my living as a commercial artist, then as a landscape designer. Never having the courage to exhibit my paintings, even though many of my clients have framed my landscape renderings. Thank-you!

The problem with call for artist is the entry fees (average of $50 non refundable)... I agree with you that we should show our work and the internet is the best deal from me right now.

Thanks for another great video!!! Well, back in November, I ordered the light that you recommended for lighting still life compositions from BHP Photography. It was supposed to be delivered in January because of a back order. Then, it was still back ordered again, and I just got a notification that it has finally shipped. Stefan, I blame you!!! I suspect it is your students and viewers who are ordering this product en masse. ;) Anyway, I'll have it soon and will be able to properly light still life compositions. I am very excited! I'm also scheduled for my first art show for a local artists' co-op. They are interested in my metalpoint drawings, so I have to produce 15 pieces by May. Thank you so much for your guidance and inspiration.

Would love to see your works up close one day but I'm in the U.K. and unlikely to head over the pond anytime soon. Anyhow, thanks again, and keep em coming pls!

There is massive road construction happening in midtown Reno right now. It is an annoyance, to say the least, however, I am going to start painting the trucks and the workers and the millions or orange cones that stretch for at least a mile. May as well, as this project will not be completed until the end of 2019 or beginning of 2020.

I'm of the mind that art should be "share...don't compare." Maybe it's just me but, particularly as an introvert, I find competition distasteful. I'll show my work all day long. I love seeing works of other artists. But once you start putting ribbons and prizes--nah. That it may or may not resonate with someone who has been deemed a judge--no, thanks. And it's not because it's my "self-expression" which is another art sort of truism that I reject. I don't feel like anybody wants my self-expression. They want what resonates deeply within, that helps them see themselves--not me. I'm simply a channel, the hollow flute for those intels from the Creator.

This video is a contradiction of its own making 'the importance of light' within painting. The small painting of apples which you discuss, the spotlight was so bright I could barely see it. Second to the fact it was too far away from the camera. Did you even view this before it was posted, or was it left in the incapable hands, of the person who took the video. I like to paint & draw, talk with artists about their work & also visit galleries, but this was far from inspirational.
