I love the "rolling bass" on the Pedal Organ. This is the perfect hymn for that technique. And excellent use of those 32' stops!

The ending is Celine Dion ending on her album she singing “Oh Holy Night “ and this is the exact arrangement and it is beautifully done here . Great arrangement! I’ve been a church organist most of my life in Baptist denomination and I also happen to be a relative of Fanny Crosby who wrote the text to this hymn we all know and love!

Superb. Not every church has the resources to have all these various musicians from organist, brass section & large choir. Have subscribed.

This is Mountainbrook Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. It is a magnificent space (Harold Waggoner. I believe) as wel as a vibrant and active congregation.

Nick. Who built this organ ?? REUTER? Nice sound solid base.

@@Taoseno2007 This organ was built in 1967 by the now defunct M.P. Moller company of Hagerstown Maryland. It is Opus number 10214 under the Moller name. It was refurbished in the 1980's by Howard Best.

I'd love more information on that organ. What a beautiful instrument!

This pipe organ was originally built in 1967 by the MP Moller company (Opus 10214) and renovated and expanded by the Howard M Best company in the 1980s. It has 51 ranks in 4 divisions and is installed at Mountain Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Of note, it has a 32' Bombarde stop in the pedal division which you hear prominently in this video.

@mannfan12 thank you thank you for this information. It is an absolutely beautiful instrument! Anybody who hears it regularly is indeed blessed.
@mannfan12 Жыл бұрын
@@wadeh2 I would love to hear this one in person. It sounds like it has a great collection of stops and has been voiced really well. But make no mistake, you could have the best organ in the world but if the organist doesn't know how to use all the resources effectively, you'll never hear it's full capabilities. The organist in this video is Scott Atchison. I've never heard of him before this video but he is the Director of Music and organist at Peachtree Road UMC in Atlanta. Obviously a very talented organist.

@mannfan12 absolutely agree. Mr. Atchison is an amazing musician. I wish I could hear more of him. Maybe Peachtree UMC has their services online.

But Pablo - what about the orchestra...and the Choir? The organ has to be like that just to keep up with those two because the organ definitely does have anything over them. And thats a good thing!

What is the name of that church?
@ncalarms60223 жыл бұрын
While I love the arrangement itself, I think it focuses too heavily on the organ itself as opposed to supporting the congregation. I think the emphatic segments are fantastic, but a more fitting volume could have been chosen for supporting the congregation. Maybe i'm being too picky, however, I think it is well articulated and performed. It is certainly a song of praise!
@mannfan12 Жыл бұрын
Well I respectfully disagree. I think the organ is just right for the setting and the hymn, at least from what we are seeing in this *recording*. Bear in mind that recordings - especially KZbin videos - often don't reflect the live performance. So unless you were there in person, critiques are probably inaccurate. . That said, this was a special musical get together that was part of an AGO conference held in B'ham. (AGO=American Guild of Organists). This was not a church service.
