I feel the same way you do about MS&T. They are the ultimate fantasy books. These books saved my life. I read them while going through the loss of a marriage and things got dark. Some people read LOTR once a year. I read MS&T. Thanks Tad Williams. Your books got me through it.

Me too, Brucey - if not every year, it's every year and a half; of course the new trilogy and novellas are greatly expanding that ritual 😁

I've been kicking the MS&T can down the road for almost 20 years now. Same with The Black Company. One of these days.

I just finished To Green Angel Tower in the middle of the night last night at work. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been moved to tears like that but for maybe two or three other books. Your review is spot on, it is an 11/10 and easily one of my top 5 fantasy series of all time. I went from being loosely aware who Tad Williams was, to him being one of my favorite authors of all time. Your books are up next for me and I’m stoked to start that journey.

Now THAT was a ringing endorsement. Mr Durfee has sold me on this. Reading book 3 of "The Dark Sword Trilogy" but this will be next!

No one raises world building ABOVE Tolkien. Definitely not Steven Erikson, nor Tad Williams. Tolkien's languages feel perfectly real and in some ways ARE real. However, Tad Williams does have a beautiful prose and his plots and characterization are superb indeed. Not quite at the level of Tolkien still in my view.

I was enthralled by book 3 when it came out. I loved that big book. Still love it now. By the way, I queried your agent.

Yeah during the 80s and early 90s The only way you knew a book was coming is to go to the bookstore and behind the counter at some of them they would have a coming soon list and you look up to see if the book you're looking for is on that list

They put it in two books so they can charge for both, it's all about the benjamins.

The Michael Whelan’s cover for book 3 is one of my favorites. I own a first addition autographed book.

Hi Brian, I've seen some HC edition of this book with a different dust jacket; basically the back cover that you have is the front one. Do you know which one corresponds to the First edition?
@Canoe642 жыл бұрын
I figure you are the person to ask. Several weeks ago I got a hardcover version of To Green Angel Tower, looks similar to the one one your self. Today I found and bought another hardcover of To Green Angel Tower. But this one is different. It is a little smaller, the back cover is on the front (in mirror image), the colours are deeper and richer, there is no printing number and there is a number on the bottom right of the back cover "00743". Do you know what it is I found?

You probably bought the "book club" version. Those are cheaper and different from the versions you could buy in the bookstores

@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS I just checked and there is no price in the smaller version. That must be it then. Thank you!

So, which other books follow this trilogy?
@CinHotlanta2 жыл бұрын
The novella "The Heart of What Was Lost" is next, then the "The Witchwood Crown" kicks off the sequel trilogy.
