Dear Dr. Sulayman, I love listening to your lectures, love how you are able to make us understand verses of the Quran that may seem hard to comprehend and about our beloved prophet and the prophets before him, our Deen and the sahabas. May Allah in his eternal mercy grant you and your family jannat and put barakah in your lives. I have a small dilemma. My own brother has stopped believing the Sunnah of our prophet and says that we shud only believe in the quran. I've tried to reason with him and he gets angry saying we are worshipping the prophet instead of Allah and we will end up in jahannam. I keep hoping to come across a lecture from you about those who reject the Sunnah of our prophet and only follow the Quran. According to them, it is mentioned in the Quran that u have to pray only 3 prayers a day and when doing sujood they put their chin on the ground and not the forehead (they show verses from Quran as evidence ). They break their fast not when magrib prayer calls but say when darkness spreads which they explain as when that is when the Venus star appears in the sky, which is according to them about 15 mins after magrib. He keeps trying to convert me and my brothers and sisters to this new ideology and to be honest and is a battle with my nafs at times some.of his preachings make sense and I find myself battling to find my Iman and Allah and his messenger. Please help. I want jannath, I want the love of my rabb and his messenger. This at times seems worse than having to listen to atheists confirming their existence to a big bang!

Narrated by Abdullah bin Hisham: "We were with the Prophet while he was holding Umar bin Al-Khattab by the hand. Umar said to him, 'O Allah's Messenger, you are dearer to me than everything except my own self! The Prophet said, 'No, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, (you will not have complete faith) till I am dearer to you than your own self. Then Umar said to him, 'However, now, by Allah, you are dearer to me than my own self. The Prophet said, 'Now, O Umar, (now you are a believer)!" Commentary on this Hadith often includes Umar's reasoning that loving the Prophet more than oneself is essential because the Prophet guides towards what is truly beneficial for the soul, whereas following one's nafs can lead to harm and destruction. Quran (5:30) So the Nafs (self of the other (latter one) encouraged him and made fair-seeming to him the murder of his brother; he murdered him and became one of the losers.

But when some one of his companions narrated a tradition to me, I adjured him; and when he took an oath, I testified him. Abu Bakrؓ narrated to me a tradition, and Abu Bakrؓ narrated truthfully. Heؓ said: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying: «When a servant (of Allah) commits a sin, and he performs ablution well, and then stands and prays two rak'ahs, and asks pardon of Allah, Allah pardons him». He ﷺ then recited this verse: «and those who, when they happen to commit a shameful act or wrong themselves, remember Allah, then, seek forgiveness for their sins-and who is there to forgive sins except Allah?-and do not persist in what they have done, knowingly.» (iii. 135).* سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان فرمایا: *میں ایسا شخص تھا کہ جب میں رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم سے کوئی حدیث سنتا تو اللہ تعالیٰ مجھے اس سے جو چاہتا فائدہ عنایت فرماتا۔ اور جب کوئی اور صحابی حدیث بیان کرتا، تو میں اس سے قسم لیتا تھا؛ اور جب وہ قسم اٹھاتا تو میں اس کی تصدیق کرتا تھا۔ مجھ سے حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے حدیث بیان کی اور انہوں نے سچ کہا۔ انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم کو یہ فرماتے سنا: «کوئی بندہ ایسا نہیں جو کوئی گناہ کر بیٹھے پھر وضو کرے اچھی طرح، پھر کھڑا ہو اور دو رکعتیں پڑھے اور اللہ سے استغفار کرے، مگر اللہ اسے معاف کر دیتا ہے»۔ پھر آپ ﷺ نے یہ آیت پڑھی : «وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا فَاحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا اللهَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا لِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَنْ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَلَمْ يُصِرُّوا عَلَى مَا فَعَلُوا وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ» {متقی وہ لوگ ہیں جو اگر کبھی کوئی بے حیائی کا کام کریں یا اپنی جانوں پر کوئی ظلم کر بیٹھیں، تو اللہ کو یاد کرتے اور اپنے گناہوں کی معافی مانگتے ہیں۔ اور اللہ کے سوا اور کون ہے جو گناہ بخش دے؟ اور یہ لوگ جانتے بوجھتے اپنے کئے (غلط کام) پر نہیں اَڑتے۔}"* *_(اللہ سبحانہ وتعالٰی کی مغفرت توبہ کرنے والے کیلئے بہت وسعت رکھتی ہے اور ہمیں استغفار میں کثرت کرنا چاہئے۔ اس حدیث سے حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ کی نظر میں حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے مقام کا بھی اندازہ ہوتا ہے کہ انہوں نے حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ سے حلف لئے بغیر ہی ان کی تصدیق کی۔ اللہ سبحانہ وتعالٰی ہمیں دین کا صحیح فہم اور سچی توبہ کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔ آمین)_*
