To mosfet or not to mosfet?

What is a mosfet for? Where did you mount it on your Ender 3?

Why install a Mosfet? How does a Mosfet work? Never tin a wire that goes into a screw terminal. Most Mosfets ship with a 2 connector to connect the printer mainboard to the Mosfet. It would have been nice if you started with the wiring as it is from the factory. A wiring diagram would be helpful. Silicon wire is a great upgrade while you are doing this project. I also use a Mosfet on the hot end.

Great video, I think you should add an explanation on why do we need a Mosfet, this is the first time I heard of the mosfet for my 3d printer and had to research why we need it, before seeing your video .

Should i do this to my ender3's as a upgrade even if my boards are fine.

It is not required but it is good insurance.

You recommended tinning the wires, this is a bad thing to do when using screw fittings. Solder flows when compressed and the joint will loosen over a period of time. For screw fittings always use bare copper or fit a compression fitting to the wire (eg spade terminal).

I am relatively new at this 3D printing hobby. I have an older printer kit that I completed assembly about a month ago. The kit is a Folger Tech Cloner kit that I have had for over a year, but time has not been on my side until recently. Anyway, everything seems to be working OK except for the heated bed. The kit is controlled with an Arduino/RAMPS 1.4 combination. When the everything is on and I have manually set the temperature for the heated bed, there is no power being delivered to the D8 pins. I am using a multimeter to test the voltage and I am getting 0. So, how do I go about figuring out where the problem is? Do you have a video that shows how to troubleshoot this problem and what solutions might be available?

OMG NEVER TIN OR SOLDER A WIRE GOING INTO A SCREW TERMINAL. Use a proper ferrule or the bare wire.
