I’m middle class, went to a good school, got good grades and fell madly in love with Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn as a young teen and as a result vastly prefer any kind of good beard in my 20s. I don’t really care for a clean shaven face at all unless the man doesn’t look good with facial hair. Education and background seem an odd thing to base attraction standards on when taste in media, social influences and similar seem far more logical deciding factors than just ‘uneducated people like roughness and well educated people like visible neatness"
@kiuk_kiks3 жыл бұрын
@@LadyAhro Viggo Mortensen is a Hollywood actor picked for his good looks so it doesn’t mean you’re necessarily into bearded men. Additionally, professional men like doctors, surgeons, lawyers, management, executives, et cetera are all clean shaven so women who like men like those deem bearded men to be low status, poor and/ or working class.
@LadyAhro3 жыл бұрын
@@kiuk_kiks He’s far from the only bearded character or actor I’ve been attracted to and in general have always preferred a well kept beard and find my eye drawn to a good beard instinctively. I simply like beards. And indeed while traditionally many high earning degree-educated jobs have deemed a clean shaven face to be the standard of professionalism things are now changing in certain fields and facial hair is becoming somewhat more acceptable here in England even within the legal profession or within high ranking company roles. Perhaps my age, nearing my mid 20s, is an influence on my own perception but in general the middle class people I know, inevitably a lot of my friends, do not consider beards unprofessional. And even those from the same background going into reasonably prestigious fields mostly do not dislike beards. (One friend is applying for their PHD in Medical Physics and vastly prefers bearded men.) Of course my anecdotal evidence of a very small sample of English middle class ladies interested in men and approximately 24-25 years of age is by no means hard evidence of anything but I would be far more inclined to consider factors beyond standards formed by high earning professions being a much more influential force. This is especially if tastes were formed long before a person had started to either consciously or unconsciously find men in a certain profession appealing. At a certain age this is likely rarely a thought unless it is subconscious. And while many people desire likeminded partners this is often in values alone rather than in career similarities. This is another observation I have made within the group of women I know of a similar age, as some have chosen to date or even marry ‘working class' men with high intelligence. Such as one who's partner is a professional musician in an orchestra. These men are not 'beneath' my friends who have chosen highly regarded careers nor less intelligent. It’s an interesting subject that, since I have not seen many studies, seems like a lot of speculation to pinpoint taste on background, education or profession alone.

It doenst take much effort to get girls and i get compliments on my beard from women. i also have shown them pictures of me with a beard and how i currently look and they all prefer now. so maybe im just an outlier but i look way better with a beard. it could also be that i changed my hairstyle. and i workout and have more confidence but the beard definietly helps in my case.

Not everyone likes it, as some find it pokie and itchy and not as attractive as the clean face. Same for a woman who doesn’t shave her legs (but feels better about not worrying with it.) Personally, if a man shaves his face the woman should shave her legs, and vice versa. But that’s just me, to each their own

My partner has a very full beard now after growing it out and keeping it well shaped but when we met he kept it quite short and even looking back at old pictures of us the difference is shocking. The guy has a fairly large nose, it’s pretty straight and in the past you would definitely notice that he had a big somewhat rounded nose/nostrils. I never considered it to detract from his appearance, he’s a handsome man, but it was the most dominant feature on his face and it made him feel rather self conscious. So he started to grow his beard out more. Now because his beard is so thick (think just a bit thicker/longer than Captain America's Infinity War beard but that exact same shape) everything is super harmonised, and though I never believed it possible he’s more handsome than ever before, with the beard also strengthening his jawline even further. All his friends have complimented the beard heavily (which he’s told me with such pride after he’s been on zoom) and paired with his long viking hair it’s such a masculine, strong and devastatingly handsome look.

I think a strong and well defined lower third is a better indicator of masculinity than facial hair. Also the proof that a man is actually "good looking" as lower third is the number one thing when it comes to facial attractiveness. Nobody would consider Tom Hardy with full beard to be more masculine looking than a clean shaven Henry Cavill. Though, not all overtly masculine faces are considered attractive, there has to be a good balance between male and female features for one to be perceived as "attractive"

Yeah there are many men who have very well developed lower thirds but they just look like ogres. You need a mix of feminine and masculine features and the overall harmony is very important. My partner would probably run naked through the streets than shave his face and I couldn’t be happier honesty. Also that repeat comment about class and intelligence is just bizarre. I’m a posh middle class English woman with a beard fixation. I don’t like 'rough' personality types or bad boy archetypes, typically finding them obnoxious. I can actually trace my attraction down to a really noble bearded character in media (Aragorn). Strong, clever and emotionally intelligent men in tune with their own masculinity (again, Aragorn) sometimes have beards. Thats what I’ve sought out. And men from any social class can embody those things or favour a beard on themselves.

Clean shaven, that is, no facial hair is my preference (as a Western Caucasian woman.) My instinct, on seeing male facial hair, is - what is he hiding? A recessed chin or bad skin? Does he have such lazy personal hygiene that he can’t be bothered to shave? ( Note how a male with no facial hair is called CLEAN shaven.) If he’s a chef, even worse- I then wonder: how many of his facial hairs landed up in the food that he prepared? Also, facial hair usually goes gray before the hair on the head so he looks older, much more quickly, too. That said, I find male underarm hair -( not chest hair)-quite honestly very sexy.

in my humble opinion 1- u wont look good in it if the apples of ur cheeks sit low. For ex john krasinki looks way better WITHOUT a beard than with. 2- ANY hair that grows out of apple cheeks is yuck, makes u look hairy 3- beard needs to be dense yet medium short (no santa claus length gross) 4- must have a mustache with it, i dont understand why men would shave it and leave the beard, they look like abraham lincoln 5- cut the hair in a skeletal fashion. I noticed a LOT of french men do this: it gives them a chiseled look. Look up singer RIDSA 6- overall beards make men look manly. Like skirts and sundresses make women look delicate and feminine. If u can grow one (a real one, not patchy): then go for it 🥳🥰
@BigV243 жыл бұрын
Ridsa’s beard looks too manicured imo. You have to try to make it look effortless/natural. I think the same goes with haircuts but that’s just my opinion as a dude. You make some interesting points otherwise.
