Depends.... if saltwater, I'm on the reel (generally)... Freshwater - I only put them on the reel if I, "need" the drag.... maybe about my ~6 weight? I've got a couple smaller reels that I would use the drag... But a couple others - that I never use and strip exclusively.... Depends what it feels like is on the other end?

100% the same with myself, as stated in the video. If im fishing the local rivers which is majority trout, im on my 3 or 4 wt and i strip the line. If im targeting Salmon or Stripers, i use my 8 or 9 wt and they usually run me into the reel. I have however caught a 2.5 pound smallie on my 3 wt which i had to go to the reel just to get him in. As you say, its all about how it feels on the other end.

I'm usually stripping and if required I go to my reel. I do like the drag of the reel for decent size fish but I like the fish to really put themselves onto the reel by taking line. I'm not overly smooth on the transition from loads of line laying around from "hand bombing" them to tight to the drag.

Great job! And superb video title 😆 Ur peeing in ur waders and now stripping for us 😉🤣 I too like to hand strip the smallies, as they are extra fiesty and jumpy. Hand reeling takes so long to take up the slack line, that most times u risk losing the fish. Cheers mate! Love it

Haha yes. Peeing and stripping. I'm all over the place.
