The 1980 'To Tell The Truth' theme possesses a powerful punch of lively energy. Positive vibes flow through it. You just want to spring up from your seat and dance. I love this version lots.

Interesting...Fits right into the era of disco. I never watched To Tell The Truth in 1980-81. I'm most familiar with the theme that was created in the late-1960s (I watched the show between 1972 and '78), probably the most popular theme of this show.

Nah, it was done by Score Productions, and yes, it did sound like The Price is Right. and also, when this show was on syn. during the 1980-1981 Season, Magnum, P.I., 3-2-1 Contact and Bullseye were on the air during that time and also, Dallas revealed who shot J.R. Ewing and plus, WKRP was still on CBS and Chuck Woolery was still hosting Wheel of Fortune and also, Tanya Roberts joined the cast of Charlie's Angels and 1981 was the end of the NYC days of To Tell the Truth and Pyramid.

Also during the 1980-81 TV Season, Laverne and Shirley moved from Milwaukee to Los Angeles and Happy Days was w/out Ron Howard along with Donny Most, since they left earlier in 1980. Also Richie Rich, Heathcliff and Dingbat (later with Marmaduke), Fonzie and the Happy Days Gang, Too Close for Comfort, It's a Living and Bosom Buddies debuted on ABC. The Flintstone Comedy Show debuts on NBC. Enos, the short-lived spin-off of The Dukes of Hazzard debuts on CBS.

Not to me, because I'm one of those disgusting people with perfect pitch. This theme is in F, while Password Plus's theme is in Bb. Also, this has a decidedly disco feel to it, while the theme for P+ is one I'd describe as having...maybe a funk feel to it.

One of the last game shows taped in NYC until, I believe, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire".
@libertubey21994 жыл бұрын
You are correct, and it was the last version of TTTT to tape in NYC. All subsequent versions, including the current ABC version, have been taped in Hollywood. Actually, there have been two additional game shows to tape in NYC before Millionaire. "The $50,000 Pyramid" in 1981 was one. It would actually be another six years before another game show was taped in NYC. Nickelodeon's "Double Dare" moved taping from WHYY Studios in Philadelphia to NYC in 1987 and was upgraded to the first version of "Super Sloppy Double Dare". When it was picked up for syndication, it reverted back to just "Double Dare" and moved taping back to WHYY Studios in Philadelphia in 1988, and no game show was taped in NYC again, until Millionaire in 1999. Since then, the ABC versions of "The $100,000 Pyramid" and "Match Game" have been taping there. Ironically, by the time these shows hit the airwaves, Millionaire had moved taping to Las Vegas.

Actually, this theme always struck me as not only bright and bouncy, but if The Price Is Right ever decided to change themes, this should be in contention. Once created a version with a longer opening vamp for the "come on down" contestant calldown portion of the open. Works just fine.

Nope. To "TPIR'-sounding (The Price Is Right'). The theme from the late 60' was great - it actually had a song's structure, i.e., intro, melody, chorus, with very catchy hooks, and it was re-worked when Mr Moore left, and Mr Garagiola took over. This is very 'showcase'-sounding.

I've heard the 1990 theme song and I thought it was pretty cool. But I'm pretty sure that not everyone else knew that there was a vocal version of the theme song, which I heard on the Museum of Television Production Music website. Unfortunately, they can't have anyone listen to the theme songs now because of people posting them on here, unless you have a membership to the site. The 1990 vocal theme and its instrumental are awesome, IMO.

@pnull I haven't seen too many episodes from this run, but a couple I did see were quite interesting. One was where all-time Tic Tac Dough champion Lt. Thom McKee was on. His run was impressive, but I find it interesting that he was on there considering that he was on a show produced by another production company aside from Goodson-Todman. I've also seen a segment where there was a little known radio host named Larry King.
