I call this episode Most Dangerous Game The guy with the beard I thought was the one, but turned out to be Athol Fugard, a famous South-African playwright, who's still going strong at 90!

This was originally broadcast on my 5th birthday. Ah, I remember it well! LOL And Athol Fugard is still alive and kicking and will be 91 years young in June!

It seems to me when the panel was "following along" as Bud read the affadavit in game # 2, they would have noted how the first name was spelled. "Gayle" would normally be used for a male, "Gail" for a female. Seems that would help them when voting.

The featured ingredient in Secret deodorant (hexachlorophene) turned out to be a pretty nasty chemical and was banned or restricted in several countries. The sponsor ads of these old shows were interesting, and it's too bad they aren't shown.

SPOILER! I think the writer Athol Fugard must have cringed a bit when the real rhino conservationist said "The Bantu" live all over Africa. "Bantu" only has validity as a term for a family of African languages, whereas Bantu when referring to people is a derogatory word for black people.

As of today he is still alive. I didn't see this appearance referenced on his Wikipedia page.

To the best of my knowledge, he has been active as a writer and university professor up until very recently--and may still be. Fugard is such a well-known writer that I think his appearance on "To Tell the Truth" would probably be a little too minor to warrant inclusion on his Wikipedia page. However, I'm pretty sure he's listed as "himself" on the "International Movie Database."

Until I watched this episode of the show I had never heard of him or the book. As I was watching, I couldn't help thinking that he was fascinating to watch and listen to before finding out who he really was. I think it would be really interesting for his fans to see this episode if they haven't already.😊 I am definitely going to read his books.
