According to Wikipedia, and as of today of course, Hayes Jenkins (age 82) and his wife Carol Heiss Jenkins (75) are still with us. Notable, in part, because both were retired from skating by 1960, and thus missed the air disaster that killed the entire 1961 US World Championship figure skating delegation.

Technically they turned pro rather than retired. Since there were no pro competitions, that meant that they skated in one of the ice shows (Ice Follies, Ice Capades, etc.). Wikipedia lists them as being retired, but that means retired from competition, not retired from ice skating. I know that Carol Heiss was the gold medal winner in the 1960 Winter Olympics. She was from my old neighborhood in Queens. (If I had been on the panel, I would have asked which women's figure skating champion was from NYC; she also won the silver medal in 1956.) She grew up in the Ozone Park neighborhood. I lived in Richmond Hill, but on the other side of the street, it was Ozone Park. Brother David Jenkins was the men's gold medalist in 1960 (and won bronze in 1956 when his brother won gold) and he also turned pro after winning gold. So he also was not a victim of that 1961 plane crash. All three are still alive four years after +Rob Hoffmann posted.

John Fulton Short was quite amazing in his passion and determination for becoming an accomplished and respected bullfighter in a profession that was extremely difficult to enter and acquire the experience necessary to be successful, especially for an American. There's a short video on Vimeo about him. He was also a gifted artist.

John did an okay job replacing Bud C. But you can appreciate how good Bud is at his job as host. In 2021 bullfighting is not so cool but 60-70 years ago it was very popular. Times change. Who knows, in the year 2050, football might be outlawed along with boxing and MMA. You never know. Thanks for the video.

My GOD, JCS is so formal! He comes off as barely human... Maybe a tad loosened by the end, though Polly could rattle nearly anybody.

More post-News Caravan material for John Cameron Swayze-and before he spoke for Timex.
John Cameron Swayze made a mistake in the intro. It showed the first 3 contestants but he didn't give the announcer time to say "What is your name." He just went right into the affidavit. But he still did a HUNDRED times better than Ralph Bellamy did hosting

John Daly was a newscaster by trade. So was JCS, (and Mike Wallace, who did the pilot of this show). Maybe that's good training for a quiz show MC.

That's what I remember Swayze for: Timex commercials. Of course, there's John Cameron Cameron, the reporter played by Dickie Goodman on the novelty record "The Flying Saucer".

I think the figure skater and contestant #1 hooked up after the show.

And yet Robert Q. appeared often as a guest panelist on "To Tell the Truth". He even filled in for Bud a few times as guest host.

The one thing I dislike about TTTT is that they had all contestants dress up in (sometimes silly) costumes associated with the profession in question. The most egregious that I recall is when all three had to wear wetsuits that must have been torture to have on under those hot studio lights.
