Wow first time I was ever so totally wrong per Mountain Climber! #1 I thought was clueless & shouldn't have been on the show yet he was the real one, #2 Gave great answers & number 3. was perfect in everything he said with total confidence.

A couple of comments: In Round # 1, Tom Poston never got to ask his follow-up question. 2. In the same round, I believe it would have been more productive to ask ask questions regarding Charles Wheeler's having attended school in Moscow. His affidavit stated that he had attended a *public school*--as a opposed to an American school for the children of diplomats. This would mean that he would have had to be able to speak Russian--which one of the boys said he could not.

Interesting side note: Contestant #3, Howard Cox, is the brother of Ed Cox, who married Tricia Nixon.

As a child, I remember Sonny Fox as the host of "Wonderama" and he was great. He didn't seem to do very well here, however, compared to others who subbed for Bud Collyer. In the round where there were no incorrect votes, he didn't mention that the contestants would still get $150 (which also meant one less plug for the sponsor). And there were a few other places where he stumbled. Earlier in his career, he was fired after a few episodes of hosting a quiz show. He later admitted that among other things, he had a tendency to give the answers rather than read the questions. But it helped him avoid the quiz show scandals that came out later.

The thing that stood out to me was he never let Tom ask his question at the end of round one. And I agree that compared to other substitute hosts, he is no match.

He did stun Gilbert Gottfried and Frank Santopadre on Gilbert's famous podcast with a most impressive WWII story from his own history.

Ike graduated West Point class of 2015. There weren't any Boy Scouts in the US until 1910 or so. How could Ike have told boy #1 about his days in scouting?
@stanbrown322 жыл бұрын
Maybe his experiences with Scouting were when his son John was a Boy Scout?

Despite his calm and engaging demeanor..Sonny had stated(years later)that he was never comfortable being a TV game show host.

Hint for guessing the real person: over-hesitation, confusion, vague answers, mumbling, etc. #1 in game 1 was a dead giveaway because he exhibited all of these mannerisms. Game 3, #3 - super long hesitation for naming the position of the 5 pin and giving the average WPM when asked for the fastest WPM record.

It was an all-or-nothing night for the panel. Not sure I have seen all right or all wrong on one show. Hurry back, Bud. My two sisters were on Sonny Fox's Wonderama show a long long time ago. He lived till he was 95.

In 1959: A large percentage of Americans smoked. Cars were sold without seat belts. Cars burned leaded gas. Bicycle helmets were not used. I know because I was around back then. Different world!
