My grandma died on Sunday. I can't stop thinking how much she loved me- and I hope she knew just how much she meant to me. But this song coupled a much harder thought I can't seem to digest- which is my grandfather. Going home for the first time in decades to an empty home. My grandma, Dorothy, had a large, lovely garden- i spent my whole childhood in it. The line "i hate that I know just what makes your garden grow..what to with all of this once im alone.." rang every bell in my heart. "Though I can't return the favor, that the mermaid left the sailor- oh my dear you've been my savior" im so glad I found this song

This feels like....a grandson/grandchild found their grandfather’s song journal shortly after he passed, & recorded it trying to sing it how they thought he would've so they could share it with their grandmother (who's nearing her deathbed too). In a very sweet, gentle way. Like they were close & a very loving family, & the grandchild is trying so hard to honor his memory by finally making his song into a full recording.

I finally realise why I am so attached to this song as it perfectly depicts my bitter sweet relationship … my partner is aromantic meaning they will never be able to feel the love and emotion I feel for them, they will never feel how my heart will squeeze when they stroke my hair and ramble abt their day or they’ll never feel the warmth in their chest when they wake up before and see me still sleeping as though I just fell asleep .
