This has arrived on my feed right when I needed it the most. I am about to start my practice and I realised that I am experiencing fear, I had been thinking from the place of fear all this while, which postponed my practice. I want to start from the place of honesty, even if the fear - of failure, of not receiving and being recieved, of success, still resides. I want to believe in doing life despite the fear. My mind and heart needed someone to validate whatever little courage I still hold on to. Starting with nothing, but honesty, and acceptance, I hope I am able to give back without resenting, that's my only plan. To you, to others - who needs it the most like I do, atm. Thank you, for sharing your thoughts, and for existing. Sincerely

I came across your channel just a few days ago, and I have to say, it’s easily the best one I’ve found on KZbin. I’m a 18-year-old who’s stepped away from society for the past six months to prepare for one of the toughest exams in the world-only 400 out of 1.5 million make it through. And yet, I’ve been enjoying every bit of this journey so much that the outcome no longer matters to me. It’s as if the process itself has become the reward, and because of that, these months of preparation have turned into one of the best periods of my life. Now, I feel completely indifferent to the result, content to immerse myself in what I study, simply for the joy of learning. Your content has made this experience even richer for me, adding value to each step of the way. I just wanted to thank you, Sir, for that. May you find peace and clarity today, and continue to strive to act with wisdom and integrity.

There is a stoic technique to say “fate permitting” when we state our desires. Like “I want a promotion, fate permitting”. This makes us acknowledge the impact of externals on our desires on a mindset level. Religions do this with “god willing” and “inshallah”

An Emerson quote that stuck with me: “Society never advances. It recedes as fast on one side as it gains on the other. It undergoes continual changes; it is barbarous, it is civilized, it is christianized, it is rich, it is scientific; but this change is not amelioration. For every thing that is given, something is taken." I mention it here because the temporal world seems fundamentally paradoxical and absurd to me (which is why this quote stuck in my head), and in light of this view I do find it difficult to have expectations to a large extent. I do have expectations and hope for realizing a fuller, more "spiritual" existence (ie. without paradox) at some point but I don't have much hope for that expectation coming to fruition on Earth.

It blows my mind how the divine timing works. This video came up right after I thought that I should quit watching "these kind of videos" on youtube and think for myself. After watching this video, I realized that I don't like the way I was looking at educating myself spiritually and psichologicaly. I can quit watching videos and think for myself, or I can educate myself, but be aware of what resonates with me in the video and take it with me, or I can listen, and if it doesn't resonate, yey, I have heard someone's perspective but here I can think for myself. Both ways I advance. But I prefer educating myself and being in a community,. Wanted to share, fits the theme. Thank you so much for this video. Sensational perspective that I'm taking with me. One expectation I think we could strive for is that we continue to better ourselves. That we continue to put in the daily process in order to move forward to the things we aspire to learn, experience and perhaps achieve. As the stoics remind us. Having a goal in mind doesn't mean that you'll reach it, but having no goal in mind is certain that you won't. What's important is to not have an attachment to a particular outcome and instead align what you do, with the frequency of what you want to achieve. Thank you for your posts.

This is equally true for me as a Muslim, one of the pillars of belief is to believe in fate the good and the bad, to understand that things are not within our control and to submit to God, the creator of the universe and whats in it. The reason being is because if we truly are honest with ourselves as the intelligent creatures we are with consciousness, we can see how absolutely fragile we and our world can be, so we learn to accept blessings and things we took for granted, and become perseverant and patient through difficult times. We all can guarantee we have atleast one tough time scheduled in our life that we have to accept and it's death, why should we create tougher circumstances by trying to reject the idea of things not going our way when perhaps it was meant to go that way for a greater purpose. Innocent civilians who are casualties of war are spoken upon in the highest regard of martyrdom, yet when we see it we can grieve and lose our minds. We have to hold on, take a prayer, and fight for them with our strength to keep moving forward, rather than come to a sudden hault within ourselves. I'm just airing out my mind

I've heard a similar idea, expressed as "don't be attached to the outcome." Yes I want this, but the "journey" - be that writing a book, or making a new friend, or starting a business - the act of doing those things, participating in those things, should be its own reward. Interesting and enjoyable. That way, we are going about enjoying ourselves, exploring our universe, and if our desires and expectations do come true it's a bonus.

We are allowed to, and should, have ambitions and expectations, and of course opinions (because the two former concepts cannot exist without the latter). However, we need not concern ourselves with the outcomes of such endeavours - if we do our “best” with the resources and knowledge we have at our disposal. The outcomes are ultimately decided by the Universe; whichever name with which you choose to refer to “it.” ✌🏼💜🙏🏼

So there might be a difference between expectations from the soul - they can't fail because even if they "fail" they bring you something, some beautiful lesson to grow. And the ego expectation - you'll fail and you are so focused on failing that you lose the self and the soul. You probably stop that path straight after, because you reject yourself. So people without expectations/goals feel right, because there is no ego. But there is also not a soul, because the soul DOES have passion and passion = fire = a expectation/goal. Okay just some thoughts. Thanks for the video.

The question I am left with now, is the thinker a poet? If a person is an intellectual, can they be a poet too? For me, it is easy to say a poet has something to say but an intellectual too has something to say, but albeit an intellectual has something to say all the time. The intellectual knows rather when to ask a question, when to leave things unsaid and the intellectual is an effective listener. The video leaves me with a question and the answer usually is to read further and to figure things out on my own. How splendid is that? The apprentice in action, as well as the genuine action of teaching. The action of you making these videos, you are doing service. You are doing God's work. You are bringing a community of people together for the greater good, for the betterment of society. Your aims make my aims possible now. Aims I never had or envisioned for myself before I started watching your videos. You are making a positive contribution to society and influencing others to do the same.
