I see people keep talking about how he's doing double his damage and he has the most damage of any unit base, and I just gotta say that DMG is cool but Range and AOE is important as well. Like wow he does 20k Damage!... in this small little circle! Units are going walk past him like nothing man. Also go look at old AA rengoku and check out his animation, moves, and AOE. EVERY unit doesn't have to be full AOE, but if a unit that's supposed to be hard to get exists, they at least need a bigger circle IF they are going to be a circle attack. Sad to say, but old AA rengoku is just leagues better mechanic wise. These AV devs got a long way to go

a secret doesn't have to be meta for everything, when things need to be used for burn such as rengoku he'd be the ideal choice to get rid of lets say "frost" enemies. This game shouldn't be power creep based, but instead a stratagy based one with each unit being used for specific things, that's why in BTD you have a diverse of units for situational occurentes.

Fun fact: his purg flames does NOT mean he is doing double his dmg as burn. He is doing 60% but also debuffing the enemies, so if other units with burn attack them their burn does 40% more. (His might do 40% more but 40% of 60% is actually 24% so he will be doing 84% of his dmg as burn, as long as a different rengoku already inflicted the enemy with purg flames) (Also imo his effects were 100% slept on, in the anime he had a massive bolt of fire and huge tiger dragon thing for ninth form with like thunder effects, and in the game he just charges forward and creates a flame tornado) Another complaint which i think aa did right was aoe. Most modern atd games secrets have a full aoe or a MASSIVE circle. Its not fun and unique, cus it turns the units into "whoever has higher dmg is better" which just isnt fun at all. I would like to see a lot more cones, lines, and less full aoe. Or maybe try something new with different aoe that no other game has, like an attack with multiple little circles or multiple cones or a line aoe that curves or a boomerang u shaped aoe. (Idk just a rant)

They shoulda gave rengoku a bunch of range and a medium sized line aoe, he can’t solo waves by himself because his aoe is too small and his spa is too low, but if he had a lot of range and a line aoe he would be a good unit to help defend in the early game so you can build up your full aoe units like tengen or Igris, currently it doesn’t really seem worth it to grind for him

They gotta rework the passives. Rengoku doesnt actually burn enemies in the anime. So if ur gonna add burn, make it feel right. Passive 1- Set your heart a blaze: Rengoku gets a 2% damage buff every wave until he gets a 20% damage boost. When he does get the 20% damage boost, second passive activates. Passive 2- Infernal Willpower: After ''Set your heart a blaze'' is activated, you deal 35% extra burn damage and rengoku gets a more intense fire aura. Passive 3- Purgatory Flames: After ''Set your heart a blaze'' is activated, attacking an already burning enemy will apply ''Purgatory flames'' that will deal 2% of rengoku's attack damage every second until the enemy dies. (The fire never extinguishes) + Attack AOE size buff and it will be a good secret unit

I just dont like his animations, they really dropped the ball on this one, his damage is ok, but his AOE is absolutely horrendous for an exclusive unit, sasuke with monarch does 72k+ DMG and up on every hit after the first one because his passive actually works in a way where if a unit was inflicted with stun he then deals 50% extra DMG to it even if the enemy is no longer stunned (observation i made) and then the stacking DMG increase on repeat attacks and hes cheaper than rengoku to max so sasuke is a better boss killer than he is lmao, even their AOE circle and SPA is roughly the same, and with sasuke you get the added stun effect on top of that. If rengoku is meta because of this, so is sasuke, and nobody thinks sasuke is meta. You can argue the burn DMG increase makes him with obito meta, but you can just bring sasuke and an igris for bosses instead. Idk, maybe in the future he'll be better with better fire units. This update is a massive flop and literally only tengen is worth investing in for another full AOE dps unit who btw now deals the same dps as igris does with full passives which is ridiculous, why did they nerf igris to be as strong or weaker than a mythic, hes a secret for god sake.
