I have this gem of a stove. It cranks out a ton of heat! The cross bars are necessary. The filling window is not huge, break your fuel up finer to keep it roaring. It can be overfilled, losing valuable gasses that could have been burned. If you have lots of smoke once it is going, slow down the refill rate. The stove is tippy. Watch your load! There is a need for a taller windscreen or shelter from wind to avoid losing heat. Pure hardwood charcoal lumps , not briquettes) burn at over 500° and last longer than dry twigs and wood chips. You will refill less often. You can scavenge charcoal from old fires for free heat. Stove can be sooty after use. You can burn it clean in fireplace embers. What an amazing stove.

I've done hours of testing on stoves. Under the right conditions these stoves are great. But just know that your boil time is going to vary dramatically based on how wet or dry your wood is. If you're in an extreamley wet envorinment or during a time of the year when there is alot of precipitation you may not be able to harvest fuel that will create boiling water.

very compact good gasifier as can be seen, no problems with the cowling which concentrates heat - best of the type I have seen so far.

WOW! What an outstanding design! I use a Wild Woodgas stove, and I'm always frustrated with the pot stand set up--it's too close to the flames, and difficult to add wood. This seems like a treasure. Great stove! Thanks, Jules.

I like the look of this design a lot, but it seems most of the hot gasses are escaping from too many holes in the upper part. It would be interesting to try one with just one row of holes in the middle of the upper part. This would create a pocket of hot gasses right under the pot. have a look at the Russian bell stoves for some more info....

This is a light, reliable and convenient stove. Like all "wood gas" stoves, it does burn a lot of wood, rather quickly, so have plenty of it on hand. It works best with cups of 1600ml or less capacity, on account of balancing issues, if you are on uneven ground. The TOAKS 1100ml, rather than the 1600ml, is best suited for it. Some clowns complain that this is heavier than the BushBuddyLight Stove. It is. By 81 grams. A Snickers bar weighs 52.7 grams...So, ignore these clowns. You get 81 additional grams of titanium sturdiness.

+Benjamin Dover Right on! This video demonstration does not do this product any justice at all. If, anyone decided to purchase this Titanium stove with the Toaks Titanium 1600ml combo pot & pan you will never regret it. There is not a better deal out there to buy a 5 piece all titanium wood stove & cook set for about $100. Which will nest in less than a 5" space. The smaller version also made top grade titanium can be packed in in their 750ml titanium cup/pot.

I think a video with more primitive/ backpack ready fuels would be better. I've found newsprint to absorb moisture quickly, I don'y carry a hatchet backpacking because it's too heavy. I like the concept but noticing some of the comments below I'm not sure it's practical for most backpacking trips in the mountains of the southeast. I wonder if you had some of the fuel block type fire starters if they would dry wet wood enough to help it boil water or would it just be a lost cause?

Looks like a LOT of heat is wasted, it might be handy do design a pot that has some ring at the bottom that redirects all the heat back to the middle where the pot is located. Just a ring that blocks heat to escape to the sides of the pot will do I guess.

TOAKS Outdoor cool thanks. do you have plans to take on board the positive criticism and reduce pot stand height and holes?
@toaksoutdoor38799 жыл бұрын
Pingman TOAKS has always been improving existing products and creating new products. TOAKS surely takes positive and sound criticism since our goal is to provide the best gears to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts. The stove's height and holes were optimized based on the thermodynamic computation of the combustion. Please check the mechanism drawing at toaksoutdoor.com/toakstitaniumwoodstove.aspx We understand there are trade-offs between the gear size/weight and efficiency. We will continue to collect customers' comments to improve this stove like all other products. Thank you for your comments!
@GTFour9 жыл бұрын
TOAKS Outdoor this is good you are clearly a good company. I have seen the drawing but the user reviews are not good experience ( sectionhiker.com/toaks-titanium-wood-stove/ ) "There are too many ventilation holes in the top can. If there’s any wind, the heat and flames exit from the side of the top can and don’t warm the pot efficiently." If only the top was change to be more like the solo stove it would be absolutely perfect for me to use in windy conditions, I really hope you optimise it further :)
@AustralienGuy9 жыл бұрын
+Pingman Perhaps you could use a wind break or some foil to close the holes.

the only issue I see what this stove is that it's rather tall and the feed is at the Top, if I had some boiling water in it I would be afraid to use the feedhalt to put new sticks in. Which means I probably wouldn't use it and I would take the pot off which would get annoying

the only issue I see and its a personal choice thing is I don't like stoves that go in the cookware to store/ pack. my own hobo stoves fit around the outside of my Billy exactly so take up virtually no room the dirty outside of the pot and the dirty inside of the stove are together and protected from making your kit dirty and no dirty stove inside your clean cooking pot which i use with a cloth Bucket bag to store the Brew kit and condiments etc

tke high off the burning cup 8 inner space ) is more or less 2cm to high, you have not enaugh space for air to the ground a pot support like bushbuddy is also not so high, for small pots you need a cross die Brennkammer sollte 2cm kürzer sein,dann ist der Luftaustausch zum Boden auch besser der rtopfstand ist eigentlich cuch zu hoch mal den Topfstand beim Nomadic oder solo stve anschauen für schmale Töpfe braucht man ein Topfkreuz z.B.für den 985ml Esbit Topf
@btrswt359 жыл бұрын
Like people were saying, the top piece is to tall and has to many holes. The only hole that is needed is the one for feeding fuel in. That row of circular holes is redundant and leaving to much heat and flames out. Cut the top and do away with those holes and you should increase your heat transfer by bringing the pot closer to the heat, most likey increase the overall stability by decreasing the height, and shave a few ounces off the weight.
@blessedarmadillo82577 жыл бұрын
Interesting. But not a backpacking stove since it seems to require nice chunks of dried wood, a nice pile of dried newspaper, boils water in 10 - 12 minutes, spews ash into the surroundings, and requires cleanup/dowsing of ash residue.
