The problem was, most Japanese planes were lightly armored, and that led most Japanese pilots vulnerable. Betty's defence was bad with only 1 20mm cannon at the rear part. Wings were weak and the reason why they get shot easily, but atleast it still did a good job during the early days SEA invasion. Zero was upgraded and was good. Hayate was in low numbers but it's excellent. Ki-61 Hien when first encountered by Allies was identified as "Bf109" because it resembled the same shape and structure as a Bf109. And, they lost many experience pilots and 4 carriers because of their defeat in Midway, they couldn't start naval invasions until they have recovered but they were too late since Allies already started attacking Rabaul and New Guinea. Sad.

Betty has been equipped with a fire extinguishing device since the middle term, and since 7.7 mm is low performance in actual battle, 7.7 mm was changed to 20 mm when changing the model, and finally 7.7 mm was removed, 20 mm × 4, 13.2 mm × 1

@@heinzguderian6329 This is the story of the late model of the G4 M3. For rugged American fighters, the 7.7mm machine gun was powerless, so 20mm was added and some were replaced by 13.2mm.
