Your channel is an oasis of sanity in a YT maelstrom of posers waving their arms about and shrieking absurdities concerning things they know little about. Engels Coach Shop is another such oasis. I can go and stand nearby and just listen and look. Your English is superb. I believe you have spent some time either in the UK or around Brits, because you sometimes drop the occasional word or phrase, not commonly used abroad. My M44 messkit is complete and original except the windshield which doesn't have the 3 crown stamp. It cost me £15 (200 SEK) when I bought it. They are selling for £180 (2400SEK) now! The silly thing is I didn't buy it as investment but because it was such a practical and versatile design. Keep up the good work Röd.

Thank you for those kind words. I think my English is a jumbled mess of expressions from all parts of the English speaking world. I have spent way less time in the UK than I'd would have wished, so mostly media is my source of phrases. The prices of M40 & M44 has increased to ridiculous levels by now and it seems like it won't stop anytime soon. I think you bought it for all the right reasons, and obviously at the right time. Good to see you out. Fun to hear you mention the film canisters. I even have some of the aluminum ones from before the plastic became the norm. Besides matches I also find them handy for spices and little bits and bobs.

Great video. Those old 35mm film canisters had a bunch of great uses from match carrier to carrying small items you didn't want lost in the pack. You could buy replacement lids to use as salt and pepper shakers or in my case carried it in my hygiene kit with foot powder. Looking forward to your future videos.

Yes, they had lots of good use. I'm cursing myself when I think of how many of those cans I thrown away, wish I had known better when they came in large supplies. Cheers!

Some of the plastic pill bottles from pharmacy can serve as well. And they come in various sizes.

@@gedeon2696 True, the different sizes can be handy but I liked the film canisters as the plastic was not as brittle as many pill bottles are. Fun way to repurpose pill bottles after cleaning them out is fill them with candy and print off an official looking label and call it "Darnitall" and take when getting frustrated. Also if in a group get one labeled "tryactin" and when someone gets all whiny over aches and pains offer them some tryactin and tell them to stop being so annoying and to "try acting" like an adult/soldier/lumberjack (whatever they are supposed to be).

Great video, I have a M44 here in Australia that I found in an army disposal store. A very reliable kit that gets some puzzled looks by those who have not seen one before. I like the pots capacity compared to my Trangia 27. Thank you for sharing, cheers👍

Thank you for showing the wood spoon as a handle for the cup . A few people don't appreciate what the steel rings on the handle are for. Thought I was the only guy out there still using matches . Thanks once again & All the Best from New Mexico - U.S. Lefty

Yes, and carving a stick in to a makeshift handle is specially good if you use it on the campfire, if nothing else it extends the life of my gloves. As for matches it is a reliable firestarter and in my opinion never gets old. You can interpret that in both ways since the can I use in the video has had the same matches inside for twenty odd years. Every once in a while one of them crumbles without igniting, but it's the exception. Cheers Lefty!

Subscribed! I just got hold of a M44, 1989 model, thrown in as part of a Svea 123 (original) purchase. It could have been the other way around :-) They work well together. The Trangia is sometimes a bit slow for me, just for coffee or so. Nothing beats the Svea. Very happy with both. That mess kit is really something. Far prefer it to my German WW2 model. All I short is that little plastic kuksa cup. Looking around for it, but hard to find on my continent. All the best!

Thanks for the Sub! If you really like the kuksa it should be easy enough to find online. If you search for "Lillkåsa" you'll probably find an abundance of results and they are cheap as dirt, you could order several to make up for the freight. They nest perfectly in the M44 and the burner sits nicely in the kuksa. Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed it. The fog is almost magic, some say that the shadows come alive in the fog and maybe that's true since they seem to disappear. The light comes from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Widersehen, meine freunde!

Hi Alexander. I'm afraid that I can't give any recommendations on where to find them anymore. The hype has been so strong that you basically only can find them second hand now. There are fan groups online where you could try your luck. Then there's the newly produced stainless one without a burner from self reliance outfitters you could check out. Best of luck! Cheers!

I'm sorry to say that I haven't got a clue where you can find those parts original. I would probably talk to a smith or a mechanic shop to make them. I'm pretty certain that the specs can be found online, even if I haven't actually seen them myself. Hope it works out for you. Cheers!

3:49 I'm not familiar with your cooking kit... just laughing at myself now after wondering why you lit the burner before you put it in the "stove"... and then you put the stove on top of the burner. I was thinking the stove had a solid bottom... Also, even if there was no one around to hear it, I'm sure that tree behind you DID make a noise when it fell.
