Same here I karaoke this song because I live in Arkansas right next to Oklahoma and my mom had a restaurant. I’m pretty much did the same thing he meant so much more than I can explain. It really took a heartfelt chunk out of my heart basically when I heard this morning, especially my brother, died in Afghanistan, as he played for the troops, and always a lover of Toby Keith. You will never be forgotten man.

I’ve always looked at this song as a hat tip to Waylon as far as the instrumentals go. The biographical lyrics seem to be a spot on representation of Toby Keith’s early years. He never took himself too seriously and I admired that. Rest easy .

Never considered myself a country music fan. Then Mr Toby’s album Honky tonk U cam out and I have been a fan ever since. I love songs about life and artist in their authentic self. Then I found out about his USO tours and his bipartisan support of our troops and fell in love. This man not only talked the talk but he walked the walk too. Never heard him patting himself on the back about his selflessness. I will miss you Mr. Toby.

Really wish Waylon had gotten a chance to hear this song. The rhythm, just the general 'feel' of it, leaves no doubt who one of Toby's idols was. Hell, who knows-- maybe Waylon did hear it, wherever he is. If he did, I know he smiled & tapped one of those shiny black boots.

Back in 2011 Toby Keith did a concert in my area. He actually made it a charitable event, by making it so that people who donated food to charity could get a ticket to the concert. I intended to go, intending to donate food.... But, unfortunately my beloved elderly fur-baby cat, Sammy, got very sick and passed away. I had had Sammy for 17 years. :-( So, I ended up forgetting about the concert. Regardless, his effort to help the hungry really impressed me. No other concert act that I wanted to go to did that. At least, not that I know of.
