My name is Alan Charles (The Trini Surfer) and i am a professional photographer/content creator.
I am here to show you the beauty of my country TRINIDAD & TOBAGO and the world on my travels!
The Toco/Matura region is located in Trinidad's northeastern corner, known for its beautiful natural surroundings and rich biodiversity. The region offers a mix of scenic landscapes, serene beaches, and colorful local culture.
Perhaps the most iconic aspect of Toco/Matura is its role as a crucial nesting site for various sea turtles, including the endangered leatherback turtles. These creatures frequently choose the region's sandy beaches as their breeding ground which is unique to Toco/Matura. This natural spectacle has given rise to a dedicated and passionate conservation movement in the area.
The predominance of fishing communities in Toco/Matura has influenced much of its local culture. These communities, deeply rooted in tradition, maintain a lifestyle that revolves around the bounty of the sea. This, together with the harmonious coexistence with nature, paints a unique, rustic charm to the region.
In addition to its marine life, Toco/Matura boasts a fascinating array of flora and fauna. Visitors here can experience nature's wonders firsthand through hiking, bird watching, and various other exciting outdoor activities.

Everytime I think about a road trip back to Toca , the thought of the bad roads turn me off . So many great memories especially to Grande Reviere ,turtle watching and all. Always a pleasure watching your vlogs . Your strays in the video I have named Prince Harry and Meaghan . Also ,may I suggest you use some Andre Tanker music ...local and all for the vlogs . A son of our soil . He is gone but his music is never forgotten . Even bring back the ole time days would have been a fitting end to this wonderful video . ❤

Had a great time there in 1976 as a young man with my school boy friends from SFTI. Vishnu, Aboud..vic edwards, and others a group of about 12 close to 20yrs of age on average. That was a time when it was safe and we can never forget the friendship, comraderie and jokes....galore.

Good day Alan. I was at some of those places just about a week ago. The first beach you showed is a spot where leather backs sometimes breed. I don't know if it still happens. Many years ago I had the pleasure of seeing one emerge from the sands. Some many stories I can tell of places along Toco and up Blanchisseuse. Wish you could have experienced it back in the day.

Nice video man ! Tell David that the Kashima is a wild species of fruits that include another one, the Monkey apple. Their domesticated relatives are purple and green Sugar Apples (Sweetsop), Custard Apples, Soursop, Atemoya and Cherimoya. There may be others. Yes, the tree will grow in Tobago, but it needs space. It gets pretty big and taller than sugar apple or soursop. In Trinidad, Soursop, sugar apple and custard apple fruits get infested while green, ruining the fruit. Some sort of chemical treatment has to be applied. I cannot say for Kashima. Right now, August, there are ripe Kashima in the markets. Too, there are other "wild" fruits out there that many of our population don't know. Respect.

Yes Michael, I first reach Toco proper in the early mid 80's...not talking Balandra, but Toco around the junction road through to Gran Riviere. Bought some land in Mission cause we love it so much...those were the days. Toco sweet

I have been asking for years now. About a street name Pasons Place. ,,Just before you enter Toco,,,,and Pasons had a house,,and two like cabins for rent. Mr Pason lived opposite the Ice Factory in Woodbrook. I use to book all the Long Weekends for Toco. Paid in full for the year,,there was a lime field on Pasons Place road. Going to the beach. Or close to the Light house,,,,no sure but I think Machal Mantano bought Pasons Place.,,and have like a Guest House,,or Resort there,,,,,Endless memories here,,🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹

Toco was my home for 35 years, I have family there still. Toco is not the 46 miles of roadway to Matelot, it is one of the many villages along the way. So you should be more accurate in describing the locations. As a former villager we tend to like having the correct name of the village you are describing. Good try, but someone who does not know will be misinformed. I was there one month ago.

I'm pretty sure I still would prefer the good old days as he's been a lot of activity at the southern border. In a way you can't blame people for fleeing Venezuela. Definitely does not profit a country to have weak borders though , lots of need and lots of families trying to feed their own. Brother then you must remember Pasons Place like 40 years ago,,,on Pasons Place road. Close to the lime field. And light house. I use to get hundreds of limes free,,from the caretaker,,,and the honey guy. A red guy. Up a small hill. Black honey and pure. THEY DESTROYED TOCO BEACH. I SEE THIS ON YTUBE. SHAMEFUL AND DISRESPECTFUL,,,,,KEEP GOOD BRO. I KNOW THE FEELING.

@@michaeltexeira6185 that's about 5 years before I really became a fixture on the North Shore in Toco. Plenty chatter in the village about those parties though that I recall. I never thought I would see the day that I would sell my land in Toco but I did that four years ago... When they destroyed my favorite beach with a fishing Depot and the vendors that are really just squatters, I turn my back to it one time. I feel very privileged to have enjoyed all those very sweet years, but I cannot stomach the back-ass-words way the government functions and how they allow the real beauty of Trinidad and Tobago to be spoiled. It's still very much a beautiful country, but now I exist on sweet memories. It's just disgusting to witness those changes...one foot forward to go ten steps back, not for me.
