When you go for hornbill... Eat your fill outside at a affordable price and delicious too... Them you can enter the festival to look the show.. If you take your relatives or friends to go to hornbill festival to eat, cuz mostly in all festivals in every places the food and items used to be cheap and affordable, so you might think the same if it's your first time in Hornbill Festival..Just treating 7or8 people meals and dessert to satisfaction can cost you nearly 10k and roaming around exploring things and buying can empty your whole monthly salary... Most of the Nagas that goes to attend the festivals does not openly explore because of budget and try to avoid as much as possible. This constraints the festive mindset of our Naga people or tourists and just loiter around... After talking to many tourists, I've learned that, they thought since beautiful Naga Hills is in some corner of of the world unexplored, and like other tribes in Mexico America or Africa or Asia. The festivals there are mostly focused around culture and traditions as their first priority, and business second priority but their experience of Nagaland was different... they Enjoyed the unique Hornbill festival, but was shocked to know see and spend much more money than tribals festivals or festivals in remote places or cities... Hornbill first priority is business.. So the participation prices are way higher than advanced develop cities festivals or tribal festival.. Forget the cities fest but NE fest like cherry Blossom, zero music fest or aizwal music fest or Assam or any other, which is celebrated with so much glamor and grandeur is at affordable cost so that many people can join... a school kid or college boy with 1000rs in those festivals can enjoy to the fullest.. In Hornbill 1000rs is gone in a blink of an eye.. We always proud thag there are many tourists coming to festival hornbill.. yeah but have you ever wander? The festival of Nagas that is celebrated as a sign of unity and togetherness and to meet and get along each other as Brothers and Sisters... but if we go to statistics, only some 5% percent of Nagas has seen or attended the festivals, that too Nagas In kohima and dimapur mostly... The rest haven't even seen what is hornbill festival and have less regards as Nagas Festivals of Festivals... they just select some volunteers and sent to represent the tribe.. Since most of us nagas are agriculture economy (not poor) and we have what we need to keep us fit and fine as a result not everyone have the money to attend nor the situations in other parts of Nagaland is as favorable or advance like Kma or dmp. Yeah... The festivals is mostly enjoyed and attended by big shots, high class and above middle class kids that stays in kohima or Dimapur, the rest of Nagaland don't even know or feel the hype of what's going on there...They just go along their daily life and not actually be on festival mode...

The price of food and goods are expensive in kisama is because it is to compensate the expenses of the preparation cost in a shortest possible time by the stalls holder even if it is a state government sponsored nothing is free in this world: transport, time,raw materials, foods items, water, sanitation fees, entry fees etc etc because you have to setup every thing by a set of a good co_ordinating team along cannot do great business in kisama or any where, whereas for the permanent stalls things should be automatically cheaper so it is not so easy to earn money within 10 days in a year.
