Apart from being a mega star in true sense, Madhuri is a wonderful human being and that shows up in everytime she says something, presents herself or the way she has been able to maintain her popularity over the years! She is undoubtedly the most humble superstar we have! Those who have watched her so called "offbeat " films as well, like Prahaar, Mrityudand, Pukar or even in powerful roles like that in Khalnayak or Beta, know how good an actor she is. It's just that she has always been portrayed more as the "dancing girl" or "dhak dhak" girl of the industry. But being extremely good in dancing is not her fault! A complete star like her, who acts well, has excellent pronunciation capabilty for Hindi words (unlike many actors of her time or even later), dances like a fire and even looks so beautiful at the same time, is hard to come across in decades & that's probably the reason she is still so popular & relevant to the audience!!So those comparing her with others, need to do some kind of research and introspection...I hope that she gets to work on some wonderful scripts which do more justice to her acting prowess and that happens at the soonest! At the end of the day, it's not just her, it's we the audience would benefit out of it the most!

Wow. I haven't heard of this movie but will definitely watch. I've loved Madhuri Dixit since Gulaab Gang. What stands out his when she's asked about how the movie "played it safe" which I take to mean, why didn't they make more of the gay issue. Madhuri's answer is what I've been wanting to hear an actor say. The movie and the role wasn't about that. It was about acceptance and this woman's journey. That's what I love. I don't watch a movie just because there is a lesbian in it. I watch a movie (or show) because it's a great story and if it has a gay character in it that's secondary. I lost any interest or respect for Hollywood actors years ago. Can't stand to even watch trailers for American movies, but I have discovered that there are a few Indian actors that I can admire and Ms. Dixit is one of them.

Can't help but reminisce what a super-duper star Madhuri was in the 90s. Saw the movie yesterday on Prime. MD is lovely, at her sincere best, but I agree with what Anupama says here - the whole film, given its sensitive subject matter was treated quite safely. It's as if they wanted MD to be associated with the film, but were apprehensive of giving her any kind of physically intimate scenes with another female co-actor. A braver effort, especially on OTT, would have been appreciated.

Staying relevant for 4 decades, particularly in an industry that puts women to pasture after they hit their 30s, still commanding a loyal fan following and leading parts...even when her contemporaries have seemingly vanished just proves her pure , extraordinary talent. She's like the Katherine Hepburn of Indian cinema. The longevity and relevance of her career is simply astonishing. May there be more challenging parts for this terrific actor. Great interview, btw.

Her contemporaries Sridevi passed away , juhi Chawla wants to spend time with her husband and kids as she lost her immediate family members like parents and brother. Madhuri uprooted her surgeon husband from the US and now is the only breadwinner in the family. So she has to work. She is an overrated actor.

Madhuri’s contemporaries are not just Sridevi and Juhi but so many more. From 1984-1999, all the actresses who were around are all her contemporaries. Talking about Juhi, she loves to be in the public eye. Well some of her bad movie choices, interview statements and her 5G controversy are enough proofs. Now if she gets a great role, why wouldn’t she take up! Coming to others Kajol who used to take up challenging roles in the 90s played safe post kkhh for a very long time which surely affected her career. But I think she has started stepping out of her comfort zone now which is a good thing. Karisma has almost vanished from the scene. It’s not just that she’s retired but public never demanded to watch her post her comeback movie. Manisha’s career got ruined due to cancer and now they offer her only supporting roles. Tabu is one actress who’s thriving today. Most others have retired or not talked about much. So without a doubt, Madhuri has done very well for herself to stay relevant, to be getting challenging roles offered and to do her other creative experiments like music, production, doing vlogs, and much more in her fifties.
