there are not as many Chinese in the 13th but it is mainly people from South East Asia who are the most numerous and not the Chinese why not celebrate a Thai or Khmer New Year rather than Chinese? At least with Thai New Years we had a lot of fun with water fights etc.

Lunar New year is a global thing whereas Thai New Year is only Thailand.

First thing, it's the middle of winter, with temperatures around 10 degrees, going down to 0 Celsius at times. Second, France is a country that tries no to waste food or clean water, so they would never do something like huge water fights in the street. Third, only a small portion of French immigrants really celebrate Lunar New year, water fights in the middles of the streets would impact and disturb other French citizens passing by, maybe dressed up for some business related activity.

I don't think so because in Thailand the Thai New Year is in April and in April it's spring so 29 degrees in France. ! it's not cold .
