Reading of the holy gospel according to Saint Matthew
Mt 13, 18-23
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Listen to what the parable of the sower means. To every man who hears the word of the Kingdom and does not understand it, the devil comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is what the grains that fell along the path mean.
What is sown on stony ground means the one who hears the word and immediately accepts it with joy; But, because he is inconstant, he does not allow it to take root, and as soon as tribulation or persecution comes to him because of the word, he succumbs.
What is planted among the thorns represents the one who hears the word, but the worries of life and the seduction of riches suffocate it and it remains fruitless.
On the other hand, what is sown on good soil represents those who hear the word, understand it and bear fruit; some, a hundredfold; others, sixty; and others, thirty.
What does the word of God say?
The Word of God is living and effective and sharper than a double-edged sword. It penetrates to the root of the soul and spirit (Hebrews 4, 12). The Word of God is like a love letter from our Father God to guide us along the path of life in the midst of so many temptations and difficulties.
