As another example, I've noted that it takes courage to introduce your new love to your traditional religious family if that person is LGBTQ (if you now realize you are choosing this person for your happiness). Even non-religious family members can turn out to have rather judgemental attitudes about who you are allowed to love, particularly in politically conservative families.
