I just had a thought. Y’all remember when Mimir and Atreus were talking about Thor talking to his hammer? I think it’s his way of venting; because he has no one else to talk to safe for Sif, but Sif is rarely there to see every horrible thing Thor is forced to do, and their arguments can be common. In Thor’s own eyes, the only one who could understand his pain would be a non-conscious object, painted with as much blood and grief as he is. His ONLY true friend. (Edit) Especially when you consider Odin raised him on a abusive-masculine-based way, and generally speaking, it’s not viewed to be strong or masculine to open up about your suffering.

I've watched the final scene of this game thru several different people playing and sindri's face hardening when kratos attempts to console him at the end fucking hurts every time, he conveys so much with his face, his pain, his anger, his understanding that kratos isn't the bad guy and the utter defeat at not knowing what to do, all in just a few seconds of facial motion.

Like one of the producers said, Sindri really was like the story of the “Giving Tree”, and Atreus’ quest for purpose and knowledge was way too much like Odin, that he didn’t really think at times. Unintentional consequences, but it was the case that he sought answers no matter the risk. I knew Shen was going to take it hard. Brok was amazing, and his death and the change in Sindri’s personality is heartbreaking. Sindri is never going to be able to forgive Atreus until he can forgive himself, and he may never do that.

Also remember that Atreus was near constantly advocating for war but the second it came to his doorstep he realized how awful war is. Brok, any midgardians and aesir that didn't want to fight, Freyr, Ingrid are all casualties of war. The second Atreus said "I didn't want this" i wanted Kratos to tell him that this is what war looks like.

I got nervous when she got so excited anytime Sindri and Brok came along in the 2018 game. Its easy to get hit hard by this games writing, especially if the character at the centre of it is one of your favourites. She fell in love with every single one of them and Brok died, Sindri left with no resolving the issues and Atreus leaves. I cried when I wasnt expecting too

I love how both GoW2018 and Ragnarok end with a QTE "main characters beating the shit out of the final boss" cutscene. I think I still prefer 2018's version with Kratos and Atreus kicking Baldur's ass, but the Odin triple team is still really good.

It really shows just how much Sindri is shaken. Still wearing Brok's blood on him..letting his once pristine kept armor to start getting rusty from the blood..no longer wearing his gloves just going about bare handed..one of his most iconic traits of him was his constant focus on cleanliness..but all of that doesn't matter anymore now that Brok is gone

Physically huge, supposedly unmatched in physical power, and possibly being able to grow in size either when hurt or angry, he is destined to devour Odin at the very beginning of the battle of Ragnarok, not even giving him a chance to fight sometimes. Despite all this though, Fenrir is also described as being just as playful and friendly as any other wolf adjusted to people can be, even coming to Asgard to live with the gods at first, and befriending Tyr in particular. In time though, the gods come to fear his seemingly endless strength, and devise a plan. They present a game to Fenrir, where they tie him up with increasingly stronger bindings to see if he can break free, he agrees and proceeds to break everything they try. At the end, they bring out a Dwarven chain made of "impossible things" and present that as his final challenge, but Fenrir is skeptical, agreeing to the game only if one of the Aesir rest one of their hands in his mouth, to which Tyr agrees. And once Fenrir fails to break the chains, he bites off Tyr's hand, and remains imprisoned within the roots of Yggdrasil until he's freed at the start of Ragnarok.

Seeing Kratos shed tears over his path leading to a happy ending is what got me the most. Through all his time alive, he just wanted to stop being a monster and be loved, but now he's finally realized that his actions will lead to him being loved and adored by all of the eight realms for his heroic deeds, whether he believes he's worthy of it or not. He finally reached a path that doesn't end in heartbreak, after five games.

I hope Shen knows how important her playthrough was. I'm so glad someone finally took Thors abuse seriously. That scene where he admits to disappointing Thrud while on the floor outside, Thrud asking him to try. Its an uncomfortable thing that no one takes seriously until you live that situation. Its heartbreaking to see someone you love repeatedly destroy themselves. Especially when they stop being the person you love. The connection to all the characters too, not just seeing the game as "ooh cool fight scenes" but genuinely empathising with all of the characters. Losing Brok hurts and as it happens, the connection you have with Týr is ripped away as well because he didn't exist. Then Sindri doesn't forgive you, on accident your agency has destroyed him and that feeling of losing a friend in such a way hurts so much. She didn't see Sindris grief arc as just "haha wow hes cool and edgy now" like so many people did, it was PAINFUL to watch and play and thats how it should've been. This games soul destroying but it's absolutely one of my favourite things I've played, even if I couldnt pick it up again for nearly 2 weeks after the ending

There's a moment in a child's life when they realize that their parents are not Gods. The moment when they realize their parents are fallible and don't have all the answers. The moment they realize they might have to make the decisions for themselves. This moment where Kratos is his brutally honest self forces Atreus to stand alongside Kratos as an equal. This leads directly into the moment where Atreus comes up with the plan that works; the point that requires Kratos to trust him. Immediately afterwards, they share the heartwarming conversation that has them both recognize each others' strengths, and they agree to stand together, even when they are apart. That scene ends with Atreus giving his father the lesson that Kratos gave him three years ago: "Don't be sorry. Be better." This is the real moment Atreus starts to become his own man. And it's all overshadowed by a quest to put down a lone wolf... and the surprise that you can get back a wolf that you thought was lost to your pack. Your family. This is wonderful storytelling, imbuing the entire Helheim sequence with a single, overarching theme. I love it.

Because she seemed to have started ignoring side content and blitzing through the story at some point due to starting to dislike the mechanics of the game, as Shen has said repeatedly that she is hating the combat, which most of the side-content revolves around. It doesn't help that she never upgraded her runic attacks throughout the entire game, leaving her having to deal with endgame tier content with early game tier strength runic attacks.

@@invictus4050 yeah honestly I did the exact thing she did where I charged through the 2018 game loving it and then literally closed that game and began Ragnarok. Worst mistake ever. Ragnarok’s bread and butter is so much different and things that had s don’t, things that didn’t now do, super armor on bosses is a mechanic that is visible but never explained. I think it was Joseph Anderson who had speculated that in addition to the usual under leveled disadvantages, sketchy hit detection against an enemy more than two levels above you might actually be a thing. I don’t know if that’s true or if that’s occasional superarmor at work but it felt that way for me at times. Either way, it definitely didn’t feel like the 2018 game. At first it was a pretty big disappointment. But then I figured it out.

To be fair, he had already left and...I don't think atreus showing up the funeral would've ended well with sindri He could tolerate kratos and even then he was very ready to say some shit to his face, but atreus, the person he blames for broks death at the moment, beyond himself? I would dare even say atreus didn't come out of respect for sindri, doesn't mean he didn't mourn alongside them
