Or any siblings for that matter. So sad. I saw the documentary, "Three Identical Strangers" where triplets had been separated and had no idea until they were 19. The adoption agency did it on purpose as part of a social experiment they agreed to conducted by a psychologist and were compensated for it - pure evil. The adoptive parents said they would have adopted all of them together if they had known.

I have a twin sister and we're always together. I just can't imagine how my life would be like if we were separated. My twin was a bit sick when we were about 7-8 so we had to live separately in different countries for a few months while she was being cured. I was with our dad and she was with our mum. Those months were the hardest and every time I saw a plane flying over I thought she was in there. It was equally as hard for her as well. Every time she passed a toy store over there, she'd buy me something. She wouldn't even buy a toy for herself. We're now 27 and we get along so well. She has a 6 year old daughter whom I love so much and I always make sure I'm in her life as much as possible. We really live the best life! Being twins is a blessing from God

Reading and watching all these stories makes me happy for my own childhood. Just found my father had two more sons born while he was married to my mother. Shame on him for doing that. These boys grew up without a father. One was adopted by his grandparents and the other moved across the country at a young age. I’m 62. They are both in their late 50’s. Dad is gone. They are asking about their birth father. Life could be worse for them. They might have been out in an orphanage here. Many did not survive. Even in the 1960’s.

My biological sibling and I found each other through 23andMe, as well, though we are not twins and we were adopted from China. My biological sibling is about 3½ years older than me. He took the DNA test before me, so when I looked at my results, he was at the very top of my DNA relatives list, since the list was filtered by percentage of shared DNA. We met in person just recently, and though we are not twins, we look incredibly alike, we act alike, and we share a lot of things in common (e.g., interests, hobbies). It was the most incredible experience ever.

My identical twin sister and I are 33 years old. I can't imagine not growing up together! A lot of people on this thread are commenting on how these two are identical but don't look very much alike. This is actually common with identical twins. My sister and I looked so identical when we were little but as we aged we now look like we could be fraternal or even just siblings a year or two apart. This is because of epigenetics. We share %100 of our genes but we are two separate people and over time we do begin to take on characteristics that are just our own. It should be against the law to separate twins or triplets. It is so wrong.

Roopa Dudley ~ I wished that for years, since first heard it happens. I think many people think, "Give him/her to me then!"

To be honest, that's pretty awesome how we have people like u that would love to take care of a child. We have a lot of compassionate people in America. Thank u for being one of them👍
@RoopaDudleyPaintings7 жыл бұрын
I never saw it that way - "being compassionate". I find children full of life and a promise of a wonderful tomorrow. I have raised two of my own (biological) but can love an adopted kid as if my own. Holding a child is the best feeling ever.

It's a beautiful story but it's sad that the twins were separated at birth. This shouldn't have happened. But I'm glad that they've found each other and that they can make up for all the years they've lost together.

They don't look identical to me.
@matthewkim81587 жыл бұрын
Identical twins have the same genome, which makes their DNA identical and features. However, the environment, what they eat, activities they do, etc. can shape and change the way they physically appear... therefore making them look slightly different physically. Fraternal twins, different eggs, different sperm, CAN sometimes look identical (for example the Olsen Twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley from "Full House)) are not "identical" twins, they are Dizygotic twins (aka faternal twins) but look identical.
