I will never forget this. I was living in North Miami Beach when Hurricane Andrew hit. I remember going over that morning of the hurricane to the beach. To see the Atlantic ocean like glass wow just perfectly flat no waves no birds no sounds just the humming of the air conditioners in the high rise condos. Bryan Norcross was amazing!! Everything he predicted every single hour happened just as he said it would. I remember talking to Kerry Sanders at the Fort Lauderdale airport in May of 2002 We were taking the same 5:30 AM flight to Atlanta and then I was headed out West. I said I just wanted to say Hi and I will never forget you reporting from the floor of that car, I believe you were stuck on the MacArthur Causeway. And he was nodding his head and I said I'm sorry if I'm bring back any bad memories, and he said that was the scariest thing I've ever been through in my life. It was just nice to meet him, he's always been a great reporter. I'm glad he did the reporting because he went through it and sad that Miami Metro Zoo was hit But I'm glad that they saved so many animals. It was really supposed to hit North Miami Beach area. Hard to believe that was 30 years ago. 🤯😳

I was 11 years old and survived with my parents in Cutler Ridge. Hope I never have to live through something like that again.

I will never forget it. I was 11 years old living close to homestead with a single mother and a dog. We spent 10 plus hours in a small bathroom. I can remember in the middle of the storm when eye came everybody came outside to make sure everybody was okay and it was sunny then the storm started back up. I will never forget the sky and the lightning it was purple and green I literally thought at 11 years old I was going to die.

🇨🇦🙏 The looters were just horrific. 😞 People that lost family and we're praying grateful to be alive and to have looters from far away looting? My dear God I do not understand these people with no hearts. God Bless those that had so much loss. 🙏😥

I remember it damaged our roof, our two palm trees fell, and the shed in the back of the house flew away, we don't know where. My mom, dad, my brother and I were in a bathroom and took a mattress just in case we needed it. The sound of the hurricane was horrible so I covered my ears. The only good thing about a hurricane is that they tell you a few days before it happens, not like other natural disasters where you can't prepare or go somewhere else.

My family left Hollywood, FL just a few years before Andrew hit as we moved up to Pensacola. Did end up going through Ivan in 2004 which was bad and just coasted by Ian as I am now down in Kissimmee. Andrew was bad no matter where you lived, I remember seeing it on TV and just wowed by the amount of damage!

🇨🇦🙏 my parents were snow birds and they owned a mobile home that was totaled by Andrew. I remember my parents buying a small trailer that slept 6 they filled it too to bottom with food and water and drove down to their area, donated the food and water, gave the trailer to their neighbors that had three children and they flew home. They were devastated but sooo grateful they were home in wasaga beach ont. When Andrew hit. That family that my parents gave the small trailer to called my parents often to thank them right up till my parents passed. Great people in homestead.

Hurricane Andrew was the most extreme storm, so much so that the instruments went out mid storm, I don't think they could properly measure it.....

I hunkered down with a bunch of friends at a house on 905. AKA Card Sound Road. We were about 18 miles south of the worst damage. But the upper keys still got hit pretty hard. The funny thing is, the night before Andrew hit, we were all partying at Lollapalooza. On the drive home, we were the only ones driving south. Everyone else was driving north.

2:40 Yes, it is, Hurricane Dorian would have been the 6th Cat 5 to make landfall in the US if it did, and for sure would have been more deadly than Andrew.
