Everyone gets scars bumps cancer or heart disease no one leaves this earth perfect ! Finally showing models who have battlewounds from cancer. They dont have perfect bodies! They should be proud they won the battle!. Hopefully her family will have a healthy long life! GODSPEED!

This will be my second time with BC, so my kid was 10 and now 19, and I’m now 51, so not really old not young either, but scary time for the kids too, I hope your mom is doing well now❤

Thank you for your courage in showing your cancer scars. It means so much to me. I am always so very careful to be sure that my scars are not visible to anyone; not even to my husband. It has been 2 years since my surgery and he still hasn’t’ seen my scars. I am so embarrassed of them. I dress and undress in my dressing room. He respects my need for privacy. I don’t know how much longer I can hold out. I know I am being ridiculous; but I can’t help it.

It's ok, the most important thing is you are cancer free, my wife recently got diagnosed with breast cancer, but her didn't spread and she got surgery done and now doing radiation therapy. Goo luck to you and be cancer free

Best to all women fighting breast cancer. I do have a lump recently I’m having checked at 46 years old after my mammogram found it, I do have a fibrocystic very dense breast tissue. Going in for more diagnostic tests and ultrasound. Best of luck to all of you in this worrisome process.

Ok, call this brave but I’m here to tell you that when you’re this beautiful, having some scars on your body ain’t hurting a thing in your life. An “Aesthetically Challenged” woman would find that any additional disfigurement would be far more difficult to put behind her. I AM so very glad for her getting quick treatment and getting successful results.

She has the most mind boggling cancer discovery story I've ever heard of. I hope people know that you can't just get an MRI for no clinical reason like she did. She paid out of pocket. Her timeline plays out like she was trying to find a diagnosis in the absence of any reason. Do self checks every month and see a breast expert way before 40 if you have a family history or by 40 if you don't. Getting a first mammogram after age 40 with a 37% lifetime risk is unheard of except for people that maybe don't see doctors. My specialist is not world renowned but she urged me to have my first mammogram at 30 because of family history alone. Even she wouldn't have obsessively checked me with imaging if my mammogram was clear and I didn't have a lump. Doctors are less aggressive when genetic tests are negative, not more. The math ain't mathing.

@@jgbgw591 There are some subtypes of breast cancer who don't form a lump like ILC and that's why it's hard to detect by self exam or even mammogram. I heard many patients stories that their mammogram was clear and then next year they were diagnosed with stage 3 or 4.

Absolutely. I didn’t even understand the story at first. I’m thinking her mammogram was clear, genetic testing was clear, why would they do a biopsy then? I was so confused. But clearly she fought for those tests & paid out of pocket for them. I wonder if she felt sick or had any other signs that made her fight so hard for all the other testing. The fact that she also had a total hysterectomy likely points to the fact that she chose to do that in order to prevent the chance of cancer there as well. I’m shocked she even had cancer when everything else pointed to the fact she didn’t. I’m so glad everything worked out for her & that she’s healthy & on the road to recovery. But I think it’s also important to point out that this video really highlights the fact that there are very different levels of healthcare and what kind of unbelievable care the wealthy has access too. The fact is that if she wasn’t able to pay for all of that testing (mammogram, genetic testing, mri, biopsy, etc.) then there’s no way that cancer would’ve been found until it was big enough to be seen on a mammogram. I wish this level of care would be accessible to everyone that wanted or needed it.

@@brandifaith3410 I'm glad I'm not the only one confused by this. My mother passed away from breast cancer so it's close to my heart. I know more than I want to know and Olivia's entire path to diagnosis is bizarre. It's not realistic unfortunately. My doctor is on the highly proactive side and I would not be getting an MRI immediately after a clear mammogram especially if there was no actual mass. She had every reason to stop pursuing a diagnosis and just kept gunning for one? It really makes no sense. I feel bad for people in the comments that are confused by why their doctors won't be this aggressive. Olivia's situation is unusual and she clearly didn't have to worry about insurance covering this.

It’s awesome that she either had the insurance coverage to go this route, or had the money to pay for this herself, but I feel like there should almost be a disclaimer that this isn’t a normal route of medical care & definitely not one normal people would have access to unless they either have been paying for a very premium level of health insurance or are able to pay for it themselves. Again, I’m very happy for her. She obviously was positive something was wrong (most likely because she was experiencing symptoms & feeling sick & had that intuition that something was wrong) & was determined to get extensive testing done, & it worked out for her. But no one else should by any means think this is the normal route medical care would take.

My mom had a double mastectomy. She was devastated. Women need to see what happens to our bodies. My mother was very open with me when I was 9 and showed me. She sadly passed away. She’s sharing her journey.

That is not at all accurate! I’ve personally known many women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are living happy, healthy lives many years after completing treatment. These days it’s very treatable if found early enough.

You need to learn more about the wide variety of cancers and life expectancy. My neighbor had breast cancer when she was 45. She had a mastectomy at the time and has been very active ever since. Last year she turned 92. She’s active, intelligent, and independent. My mother had breast cancer and a mastectomy in her 80s. She had a mastectomy, which she always said was the easiest surgery ever. Never another cancer. She died at 91 of COPD, three days after attending a Paul Simon concert. Breast cancer does not mean a person “has 5 years to live at best.” Ignorance like that causes people to make poor choices out of fear.
